Roadking99
Got some rain today and decided to turn my backyard into a mud pit I was very disappointed in the performance of my 'manche. It has a rear locker and 32" mt tires (brand new). The truck lost traction very easily and I got stuck twice. The only thing I can figure is it is too light and just floats on top where it is very slick. I have done this with a few full size trucks including two diesels and have never been stuck in my backyard until today. Maybe these trucks are more cut out for sand and rocks? Bornindesert
My old Xj would plow through 8 inches of snow, up the hill all the way to the garage like it was nothing. The MJ, without any weight in the back...you were stuck and digging it out. Your idea about weight is probably spot on. Throw a rank of wood in the back and see if you get stuck next time. ComancheKid45
Sounds like a front locker would benefit you greatly! Some weight never hurts either ;)
JeepcoMJ
mud is for the little-skilled rednecks anyways, but your comanche lost traction because the tires weren't clearing well enough. you were either too light on the throttle, or you bought MT's that aren't very well siped. lighter vehicles do well in mud because of the fact that they don't just sink. HOrnbrod
Your back yard sounds like it needs some work mate.
mvusse
I locked the front one my MJ first, and it made a world of difference. Then I locked the rear and I could hardly notice any difference in traction. Our trucks are too light in the back. Even with the rear axle locked, there is not enough traction to push the front, which is where all the weight is.
Roadking99
Your back yard sounds like it needs some work mate.back yard is a relative term. I live out in the country and it's just an area towards the back of my property that isn't used for anything in particular. No HOA or neighbors to annoy.Sounds like a front locker would benefit you greatly! Some weight never hurts either ;)Definitely would help to lock the front. As stated in my post I have done this several times, probably without lockers and never got stuck. I was looking forward to mudding this one in particular because it's my 15 year old's first truck and he would get to drive it himself. All prior trucks were full size v-8 power. mpace6a
don't really mud my mj because its bone stock and i worry about blowing a rod through the 2.8's block, but i did pull my brother xj out of a ditch in the mud...i don't think its a weight issue at all, just tires more than likely. Brand new destination at's on my mj, and it will go anywhere you point it so long as i don't hang up on anything. Especially if you have a rear locker, id place the blame on tires.
