Zebvance Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Installing 1 ton steering. How does this angle look? Image Not Found Image Not Found
64 Cheyenne Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 What brand steering setup is that and if you don't mind how $$ Did it come with the drop pitman? Oh yeah, if you draw a line through the TB mounting points looks like a parallel line with the steering linkage
Zebvance Posted May 23, 2013 Author Posted May 23, 2013 Serious Offroad 1 ton steering. Under the kuckle. Drop pitman arm came with my lift. To make this steering set up work you have to drill the Kuckles and drop pitman arm to 7/8s inch and put a tapered insert in them. The bilsten steering stabilizer, steering stabilizer bracket and steering set up ran me about $600.
Zebvance Posted May 23, 2013 Author Posted May 23, 2013 Here is it all done. Image Not Found Image Not Found
zackcj7 Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Angles look good. How much lift are you running? Be sure to even your ends when you align it. You should have the same amount of threads showing on either end of the drag link and tie rod.
87Warrior Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 What happens if I don't?It'll look wrong! I wouldn't worry about it as long as you know each TRE has good thread engagement. I suspect if one TRE had significantly more threads exposed it could be the weak link in the steering. Where did you pick up the taper bit from? Any chance you would like to sell it??? ;)
Bounty Hunter Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 What happens if I don't? It won't adjust correctly if one TRE is bottomed out in the link. Otherwise it's not a big deal assuming you have enough thread engagement.
Zebvance Posted May 24, 2013 Author Posted May 24, 2013 I just drilled it to 7/8s and used a tapered insert like this. http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/inssteer.html
