ncwhiteguy
Hey fellas just picked up my first Mj and already stoked! It is a blast to drive trying to figure out a few things that are different than what I'm used to (basically Wranglers ) also been restoring a wagoneer(that the wife hates) Here are the pics What is this lever on the axle? jimoshel
That's the factory installed lift kit. You pump it until you get the lift you want. It's also known as a brake equalizer. Proportions the rear brakes to allow for the difference between a full and empty bed.
dasbulliwagen
Nice truck. Looks like you have a good start. The thing on the rear axle is the rear brake proportioning valve, that adds braking power to the rear when there is more weight back there, and your is installed incorrectly, thus making you have almost no rear braking power. The rod needs to be straight up and down, and the lever needs to be about parralell to the ground going the other way. There are write ups on this site to remove this thing if you want to, or you could just unhook the rod and hook it back up correctly. Looks like you have the coveted rear dana 44 axle too. Nice score! And I assume youre in North Carolina.... where are you?

The big lever should be roughly parallel to the ground. and welcome to the club! :waving:
Exgrayxj
HAH! That xj Waggy is the twin in color to the one I have! Mine is from Tenn, and has a LT1/700r4/4wd. And my MJ is a white swb/4wd/Sport. That pic could have been taken in my drive! Caution, mj's are addictive.
