Biotex
I make a lot of my own tools, and am sure others do as well. How about a section for tools where we can talk shops and tools?
Pete M
I don't think we've got enough interest to create a whole forum, but you're more than welcome to start a bunch of threads in the pub. or if they are auto related tools you can stick them in the tech section too.
Automan2164
I was pretty much figuring that fell into the DIY section. Rob
Geonovast
I don't think it would be unreasonable to separate the DIY section into Mods/Repairs/Tools.
Pete M
I thought the DIY section was for detailed descriptions of finished how-to projects (be they repairs or mods). for this new forum are we talking about "talking about tools"? or are we talking about "showing people how you made a certain tool"? I'm now confused. :hmm:
Automan2164
I figured the DIY was not only the place to show writeups on how things are fixed as well as tools/methods/tricks to doing them. IE, I made this tool, and this is what I used it for, or I needed to do this, and this is how I got around it. Rob
Pete M
anyone volunteering to separate the entire forum into different categories?
neohic
anyone volunteering to separate the entire forum into different categories? Let me know if you're serious about this. Not tooting any horns or anything, but I can just about go through all the threads by memory.
JeepcoMJ
No thanks. we have enough subforums already. post it to "the pub", and if it gets enough support, it can go into popular threads as a sticky.
Pete M
lemme dwell on it a bit. got a long day of packing and whatnot ahead of me today and tomorrow is even longer (driving to georgia again). I just don't think there are enough threads to split off a tool section. but it might be nice to separate the mods from the repairs.
Geonovast
Why not? The Vendors subforum of the classifieds only has 5 threads in it.
Automan2164
I don't want another subforum. Don't see the need for it. The vendors section arose out of a need to separate the private sellers from the businesses. A whole 'nother section just to talk shop and about tools? Nah. Take it to the pub, or start up a thread in the DIY if you made a tool that helped a job and want to make a well, DIY to make the tool. JeepcoMJ
I'm wholly against adding more subforums and such for something that will not get much interest. Heck, I don't even check "popular threads" because I don't feel like clicking into one more sub-catagory.

The only way I might read a thread in the 'popular' forum is if it pops up in tapatalk.

It's rare I have the urge to click on the popular forum also. Rob
Pete M
the pop forum is mostly for new guys who can easily find the older "share your story" type of threads.
