Eagle Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Yes, and no. A limited slip differential was a factory option, but Jeep called it Trac-Lok. "Posi" is short for "Positraction," and that name belongs to Generous Motors.

If you're getting any "ratcheting" on turns, it means you need to add friction modifier to the gear lube. That's not really a "problem" in my book, because it proves that the limited slip clutches aren't worn out and that they still have some grab left in them.

I've tried to make the popping sounds with it. My D44 has new gears, new clutch packs with correct diff fluid and additive. :hmm:

airspeed Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 I put Lucas 75W-90 synthetic gear oil in mine, no additive. My Dana 44 w/ limited slip is smooth and quiet.
