huck731
ok, I finally have pictures of my mj. I have owned it for one week now and I still like it as much as I did day one. I have already replaced the 15 year old sony explode door speakers with a nice set of polk audio door speakers. I will be installing my alpine headunit as soon as I get a new adapter cable for it. I will also be installing a cb radio, so if anyone has suggestions on where to place the radio and antennea, that would be appreciated. you may notice the ton of rust it has, but I have already brought home some 20-22 gauge sheet metal from work (sheet metal union) to do floor pan and rocker repair. I also plan on doing a custom paint job once the metal work is all finished. future plans for this truck once I get a new car in about 2 years are as follows: ax15 w/ 4wd dana 44 rear end 4" lift Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found more to come later, photobucket (moreso my super crappy internet) is not cooperating with me. 87Warrior
Hey, that ain't bad! Sounds like you have a solid truck. I look forward to watching your rust repair progress. You can check out my 86 build to see where I put my CB radio and antenna.
gogmorgo
If you look at my truck's thread, you might be able to spot where one of the previous owners mounted the antenna. It's self-tapped into the middle of the back of the cab, the cable's still there, but the antenna isn't. The cable goes straight down between the bed and cab, and then comes up through a hole under the driver's seat. There's no radio either, but there's still a clip for hanging the handset on the back of the console, so I'm guessing it was sitting between the seats. I might go with a magnetic mounting antenna so you're not putting more holes in the truck than you need to. Plus, you can move it much more easily if you decide after a while you don't like where it is.

huck731
here is a picture I just did for my profile, thought I'd share the full scale pic. Image Not Found I have decided to keep the bucket seats soly based on where I am mounting my cb radio. but these factory cherokee buckets suck big time, I am going to try and fab some brackets so I can install a nice set of bucket seats out of a vw. cb mount shall come this week hopefully, all pending on if I can find my missing coax cable. huck731
well I was going to mount the cb radio in the centercounsel storage thing, but I don't like how tall it is. (radio is a cobra 29 ltd classic.) and I can really find any place I like because how how large the radio is in comparison to the interior of the truck. I think I may mount it behind the center counsel, but that inhibits my ability to store larger items back there, I am also considering a traditional top center windshield mount like in a semi truck. not sure yet though. I want to get ride of the cap so I can mount my cb antennea on the bed and because I like the looks withouth the cap better.
Automan2164
Old S-10's are a close enough fit for tonneau covers... Just make sure you measure everything before you plunk down the cash. Rob
huck731
well the clutch decided to go out while I was driving home today....to bad I can't get a good ax-5 for the price of a clutch.
huck731
call me what you want, but is the difference between 4wd and 2wd as simple as putting a 4wd front on on it ir is the entire trans different? because it seems that all the ax-5 stuff on fleebay is 4wd, but there had to be some 2wd ones. huck731
looks like the 4wd swap, or at least ax-5 swap will come sooner than planned. my slave is slowly leaking, but I am able to fill the master back up and keep it going.
87Warrior
You can get the 4wd AX5 and a NP231 installed then worry about the front end when you have time. A search or post in Tech will yield you a lot of information about the swap.
huck731
well I was wrong, the slave is shot. I wen tto vote today and have very little clutch at first, then nothing. and to top it off, I broke the shifter handle off the shift rod right at the base of the threads. At least I have a friend with a welder right down the street to fix that one.
huck731
damn truck, I stopped at the auto parts store to pick up some dot 3 fluid, went to fill it and the master is still full. I am going to try and bleed the slave tomorrow but I need to fix this now.
huck731
I am still doing the ax-5 swap as soon as possible, but seeing as I need my truck up and running NOW (good thing I was laid off this week) is this the correct slave cylinder? it seems to cheap compared to the $220 oreillys wants. http://www.jcwhitney.com/centric-clutch-slave-cylinderoe-replacement/p3039333.jcwx?filterid=c3651d1169y1991g2j4
