Automan2164
If you want to see a video of those, I have a few... The previous owner was really good at making them... As well as ruining the truck. I got it cheap, but had to redo the whole thing. His video: Rob

gogmorgo
So when the toyota gets stuck, does he unwrap the "strap" from the MJ's bumper and pull it out? ;) I totally would! Edit: guess I didn't watch until the end
Automan2164
The winch on the front of mine is actually functional... And rated for 3 lbs IIRC. Rob

Automan2164
Really nothing other than the truck itself. It's built for scale competition, but I don't have any of that around here. I picked it up more as just something to tinker with while on the couch. Rob

87Warrior
Depends on what you want... You can get a stock, ready to run, Axial SCX10 for around $300. Add $50 for the MJ body and paint. Actually, a factory SCX10 is dang capable and rock solid. Drive it until you feel the need to upgrade. Winches, scale accessories, aluminum steering, aluminum suspension, shocks, driveshafts, LiPo batteries, ESC, motor, axles, knuckles, etc. It could easily exceed $1000, but whose counting? Automan2164
You can pick up most of this online. I like Tower Hobbies. When you spend enough, you can pick up some good discount codes on retailmenot.com . As Brett said, you can get as crazy as you want with these. You can run them straight out of the box in a Ready To Run (RTR), or you can get the kit and build it yourself. Everything after that is an upgrade... Motor, trans, transfercase, front dig box, axle shafts, knuckles, hubs, wheels/tires, long arm... Anything... Here are some pics of mine when I was rebuilding it after buying it used and abused: Rob

I'm a compete rc newb :) I am still very much a newb, even though I have had my rig for almost 4 years. :dunno: Check out RC Crawler Just was with the full size rigs, you will learn a ton by reading various truck builds. The MJ body fits perfectly on the Axial SCX10 so you will find a lot of relevant information in the scale rigs forum. Automan2164
Automan2164- Is there a good place (besides CL) to look for a used scx10 in our local area? So Cool... I want to come check yours out when it gets warmer. CL is best, eBay is second best, but buyer beware... This is the kind of thing you want to see in person, or be dealing with someone who likes to take a lot of pics. I spent hours rebuilding mine after buying it from my roommate who found out the hard way. Bought it off eBay, and they guy misrepresented it. Hack wiring, hack body, hack 'Water proofing' (either covered in liquid electrical tape, or inside a zip tied balloon covered in liquid tape), dry washed out bearings, dirt everywhere, dry transmission, bent motor mount plate... I ended up going through it tip to tail with new bearings, front driveshaft, motor plate, spent hours picking off the tape and cutting out the balloons, cutting off all the hack excess wiring... Wiring is a huge pet-peeve of mine, as part of my job entails upfitting squad cars... This made me want to stab someone. Bent motor plate: Dry trans: Dirt in everything, seized bearings: Wiring all said and done. Cut out all the stupid excess lights, unnecessary items, and soldered everything. All said and done, CL would be the best bet. I am surprised our own Neohic hasn't already picked up one of these bodies and put it on a car chassis to do a mini archer truck... Ben? :brows: Rob
87Warrior
Deals are out there. I was lucky enough to pick up my like new SCX10 from craigslist for $150. Included battery, weighted wheels and scale swampers. It had only been run a few times. The truck wasn't a good competition crawler so the guy wanted it gone.
