Crank Position Sensor- What Are Your Tips?

Recommended Posts

No two/four post lift. MJ has a 4"- 5" lift on it. Therefore I have some room to crawl under.

Go down from the top or up from the bottom?

Remove crossmember? Lift motor and undo driverside engine mount? Already have the bottom bolt out. Trying to lossen up the top one. I'm sure there are some mechanic tricks that I need to learn.

You can do the CPS without removing anything, but I've found that popping out the front driveshaft makes it easier to actually grab the bolts/get them threaded. As for actually tightening them/loosening them, I use a boatload of extensions(with a wobble or two), and go in from above the transfer case.

The last one I changed couldn't have gone any simpler. I used a handful of extensions and a universal with some electrical tape to keep it semi rigid, and did it from the bottom. Took me about 25 minutes.

Rob hit the nail on the head here.

CPS isn't a hard job at all, it just takes a bit of thinking ahead.
