Zenobian_84
Olympic edition was just a "Prettied Up" 1988 Comanche option. I believe they came with extra goodies like a larger gas tank and the 4.0. Not sure about anything else though; the only real way to tell an Olympic version from a regular is the Olympic ring logo found underneath the "Comanche" emblem location on the fenders. Can't recall atm who on here had an Olympic Edition, and what was on it. :dunno:
RDAN1
hey i have an 88 comanche 4.0 olympic edition and can't find any info on it. i know its decals and have heard something about an udercoating which it seems to have. just wanting to know if anyone had the run down on this truck. it also seems to have a larger gas tank. I have an Olympic edition and as stated above it seems to be primarily a decal pacage for all the 88 Jeep Models to commerate the 88 Olympics. There is special striping down the sides. on the tailgate and the Olympic emblem on the front fender. The 88 parts book has details of the stickers/decals for all the models including the mj. I have been working with Spencer at jeepsticker.com to recreate the decals and so far he has the tailgate ones done as well as the Olympic emblem one. The side stickers are in "process" and the first look at them is good for the pattern but not so for the color which is a weird "gold". Not sure about gas tank size as the one on my mj was replaced with a swb tank very soon after I got it.
cdizzy001
are they worth any more than a regular pioneer
velco
I wonder how many were made...shortbox...longbox? Pictures would be nice. The larger fuel tank seems to be an oddity. Probably collectable/restorable depending on shape and how many are running around.
johnj92131
You are looking at a marketing package only. Nothing special in equipment. Just a color and decal package. Not worth a bucket of spit extra.
deziped
This one is an 88 Olympic model with 2.5, 4 spd, 3.55, 4x4 & 15 gal tank. Gold stripe on taigate and sides. Other than that just a basic MJ Image Not Found

johnj92131
Would be nice to see the build sheet on the truck. Larger tank was an option, just like a/c, auto trans, etc.

BrickChick
My husband had one - 4x2 white w/gold trim and rims. I can't say about all of them, but his had an experimental tranny in it that NO ONE (including Jeep) could give us any information about. No specs, no nothing. It also ate alternators for breakfast... and radiators. We finally parked it with 227K on the odometer. My kid learned to drive on that truck at 10 y/o (around the farm) until he blew the motor due to running it hot (yep, that whole busted radiator tank thing). Having said all that, it was a great truck; probably my husband's favorite.
