jeepman 87
Can you put new cable in it or is it no good if cable broke? And also what size spare will fit under truck
MJRemi
It depends on where the cable snapped. If close to the wheel end, you can repair it. Also, I think other trucks, like S-10s (maybe) have similar set-ups you can adapt to fit.
johnr
i had a 30" x 9.5 bfg under the bed. it did run pretty close to the exhust but i did not have any issues
johnnyc
I tried to put a 33x12.50x15 tire under there. It *fit*, but the tire was right on the diff cover. Any suspension movement would put stress on the diff cover. Maybe a lower profile cover? Still trying to figure out how to make it work.

I was looking at getting up under the truck this weekend to see if I could still mount my 33"s where the stock spare tire goes.
johnnyc
Yes, I guess that would make a difference. Shortbed. It would probably work on a longbed.
Backdraft
I have a short bed with SOA. A 33x12.50x15 fits under mine. Its close, but it works. Winching it up took some creativity. It dragged on the diff cover (stock D44 cover), but wiggling it around helped it clear and fall into place. I had new exhaust run from the cat to the rear and the spare sits around 3 to 4 inches from the pipe. Its a close fit, but it does fit.
