Zebvance
To start will I have a 1988 renix 4.0 jeep Comanche, and the exhaust is rusted out completely. I know my only choice for a aftermarkets header is the pace setter so I'm going to go with that first of all. Also I'm going to put a cheap high flow cat performance curve on it too. As for the muffler I don't know what to go with, I want a deep sound. I want it to be loud with out being super loud. From the videos I have seen on you tube the flowmaster is a bit to high pitched and the magnaflow sounds deeper. what would yall suggest? and what series of what model muffler, If you could attach sound links to those that u suggest on the older 4.0, so I can see what it will sound like that would be AWESOME! ANOTHER QUESTION.... what is the stock exhaust size? and should I run bigger pipe from the header than stock? would I notice anything from this? (sound,power,torque...) I think thats about all I have guys, please let me know your input. Reply With

Zebvance
I ended up just ordering my exhaust tonight, I went till a pacesetter header, high flow 2.5 inch cat and a 2.5 inch inlet magnaflow..... I hope it turns out goo, and I'm wondering if I might even be able to see a HP increase from it. It all Came out to like $

buffalob
why is the pacesetter the only header to consider on your renix 4 liter? Is it a fit problem with the intake? a port match problem on the head? or EGR plumbing related issue? I am almost to the exhaust stage of my project also myself. I am leaning twords the Banks revolver header based on how thick the flange is and how it is helded on to the primarys. The banks is a direct fit for 91 -92 comanches...so obviously an HO engine. I am still running my original 4 liter in my 88'
buffalob
Flange WELDED to the primarys.......damn phone. If the issue is only EGR and/or tail pipe fitting I may go the banks route. Tail pipe issues are Nill as far as I'm concerned... I will be replacing everything else on back anyway. Sorry to hijack the thread but it seemed an apprpriate place to ask for similar help..... buffalob
Let me know how your install goes and I will do the same. I bought the banks header for my 87' project with a stroker...but will probably try to bolt it up to the 88' as my complete exhaust is all rotted out as well and for the time being it is my daily driver. You are in college station? My dad taught in the english department at A&M for 29 years before he passed away 10 years ago. never lived there myself...but visited on occasion. great campus.
