jpdriver1 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 is the front drive shaft the same for all our trucks? 4 cyl vs 6 cyl ? auto vs manual? I was given one and told it was for the 2.5 motor. both my trucks are 4.0 thanks
NotMatt Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I only know 4.0 stuff, not sure on 2.5's with AX5, but... 4.0 with AW4 or AX-15 5spd are the same. 4.0 with BA10 5spd is shorter because the trans is shorter overall.
mnkyboy Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 They should be quite a bit different. If you can't use it I would be interested in it,the one in my MJ is bent.
Alexia Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Usually around three inches of differences in the various front drive shafts across all the years of 4.0 4x4 configurations. You can get away with putting the average length in place of a longer one, but that is about it for the extent of swaps.
SW86 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I went to get one from a 4 cylinder and it was way smaller around. Don't know about length
mvusse Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I know a on a 2.5 with an AX4/AX5 the front driveshaft is a lot shorter than any 4.0 combination. Can't remember the exact difference, but think it might be something like 5 or 6 inches. Don't know about a 2.5/auto combination.

The AW4 trans is a bit longer.
