DirtyComanche
I don't think the insurance company will be big on that... But, phone up a body shop and get a quote on the new bumper and just take the cash instead and then build your own. Or however it works with your insurance. Oh, I think detours makes a rear bumper? Dunno.
feerocknok
Oh, I think detours makes a rear bumper? Dunno. They were supposed to, and Eagle donated an MJ to the cause, but nothin yet.

Pete M
jcw.com sells a generic bumper with brackets to adapt it to the MJ. A Dakota bumper will not bolt on with some alterations.
DirtyComanche
Thats why I am trying to find some prices on replacements, somethin to throw at em Hit up a body shop and see if they have a listing in their catalouges. They often have shoddy quality stuff avaliable and, better yet, at an absurd price. Just get a quote on that (plus install) and take that in for the insurance. (You're not required to fix your broken car) But, you gotta have a bumper by law. Get some quotes (not too high or they'll total the MJ, lol) and take the cash to a local 4x4 shop & have them custom make one.
mjeff87
Make your own. :D X2 :D Pingpong made this one, which is now on the rear of mine...reuses the stock brackets too. Image Not Found
feerocknok
But, you gotta have a bumper by law. Depends on area. Toyota pickups for decades were imported into the country without rear bumpers, and Oregon laws say nothing about them. I have no front bumper on the Comanche and one of my Yotas right now, and no rear bumper on my two Yotas or GMC.
HOrnbrod
Original MJ rear bumpers are still available from the dealer in black or chrome. I bought a new chrome bumper a few months ago. If your insurance is going to pay for it, why not? Your dealer can tell you how much.
Cabz
I heard from progressive today, there cutting a check to me for $242.82 That should buy me some steel :D The factory bumpers are no longer availible acording to the stealership near me, No biggy though :D
HOrnbrod
The factory bumpers are no longer availible acording to the stealership near me, No biggy though Same thing my local stealer told me. Then went online to Mopar Parts Direct, and gave them a selection of part numbers from my MJ manual. They located three chrome bumpers in some warehouse up in MN. Got the new chrome bumper w. brackets, end caps, license plate lights, and even the wiring harness for $185 shipped. There were several subtle changes in the rear step bumpers (and many other parts) throughout the MJ years, and different part numbers were assigned to each. ANY part number MJ rear bumper will fit all MJs, including the rare OEM rear tube bumpers. So if you need a list of the various part numbers available for an original rear bumper, let me know. Better yet I can provide you the complete MJ parts manual if you need. It really comes in handy at times.

Not trying to threadjack, but does anyone have a picture of what this is? Pretty sure my tube bumper isn't factory, but I didn't put it on there. feerocknok
Here it is from the MJ parts manual: [/img] Thank you! Mine's different, as the bottom tube continues across, blocking off my license plate tags, and doesn't have a license plate light.
HOrnbrod
Then you most likely have the aftermarket Genuine Steel bumper. These come up occasionally on Ebay.
