87MJTIM
Does anyone have experience with this brand of bumpers? http://www.westinshop.com/product/Westi ... p149-c8844 I am looking for a replacement for the '87. I looks closer to the orignal then others advertised in other threads. It claims to be "universal" but how close is it to fit? What is the quality? jimoshel
I have 3 MJ'S with a Fey bumper on them. It looks like 2 of them used the Fey mounting hardware and the 3rd was home fabricated. When compared to a original MJ bumper the Fey looks like it has a hair heavier gauge metal and overall quality seems to be very good. I would not exceed the recommended load rating. 350# tongue and 3500#GVW.
87MJTIM
Thanks for your input. I not looking to tow anything heavier than a small landscape trailer.
ComancheKid45
The only downfall ive found with my FEY bumper is the crappy departure angle. but unless your planning to offroad alot everything else about it is great.

I would like to stay with chrome. The custom bumpers look nice and the price is reasonable. I don't know what shipping from MN to MD would cost. I had asked the question about license plate mounting and lights for the plate, but no one replied to that inquiry. MD requires lighting for the rear tag. Also, see above about keeping chrome. Those things said, I do like the looks of the custom. It looks really solid. I don't know what it could tow. I personally wouldn't be hauling alot. sinkrun
Good things to keep in mind since I will be getting a custom one soon also and I think pa requires a light also. If it were me I would make a plate frame from heavy angle and attach it with bolts into threaded holes that way when it gets bent it could be a easy to replace. As for a light I would try to find a older truck light from ebay that could be fabbed on I have seen some that had cast iron frames. Now its of to ebay to look for a metal light bracket. If I do get my custom one soon I will be selling my factory bumper, hitch and fey bumper but there all black.

johnr
ive got one i like it, i needed to get one so i could get it on the road quickly, but in hind sight i probably would not have gone with it if i had more time it dose catch everything. i ended up welding a 3/16" plate on the bottom so i don't bend it up. glundblad
I had one. It was black rather than chrome. I liked it quite a bit but I wanted a factory bumper. I think the Fey is a little more rust prone but also a bit stronger than the factory one. I have some photos and a side by side comparison to the factory bumper at the end of the link in my signature. I should add that I didnt mount it to my truck. The body shop did. If I recall correctly, they used the existing factory bumper brackets and drilled larger holes in the brackets to get them mounted. It wasnt that big of a deal.
