The grands are roomier and nicer overall but the transmission trouble I've had with them really sucked. I won't buy another grand unless I can find a clean early ZJ with a stick. Lots more comfortable for those not in the driver's seat. Where I live there is an XJ or a ZJ in every parking lot in town. Not an MJ to be found. Not quite Paradise eh? :D ZJs are the most excellent Soccer Mom rigs. I do like them though because the ZJ V8 suspension parts provide good upgrades for the MJ/XJ. immortal Posted December 21, 2011 Share Posted December 21, 2011 We had a '99 WJ LTD (leather, fully loaded, AWD, 4.7L).... LOVED it!! Awesome ride, loads of power (especially when you stood on the gas pedal), lots of room, fairly manouverable. Got rid of it just because we miled it out (sold at 287,000kms). I wouldn't hesitate to get another. Just make sure you NEVER let the oil get low in it. Those 4.7Ls should have the "ADD" mark on the dipstick moved up another 1/4". Didn't happen to mine, but I have heard horror stories from other guys and seen one in a shop that was run, and then seized due to low oil level.
