Project late night

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, Been around here on the forum before while i had my 92, but sold that in 09. And now I'm back with an 87/4.0/4x4/Auto short bed! Only have one picture of it so far.

It definitely has it share of work. Rust is a minimal from what I can see. The p/o seems to hit somthing with the driver side front end. And the driver side door needs attention.

Ive got a ford 8.8 waiting for it, 35s on d windows, and plan on parting out my lifted cherokee to fund long arms after the holidays.

Got alittle bit done yesterday.Removed the dented bumper. I Wanted to swap the cracked header panel and mashed up fender to a 97+ front end but in my area they don't come up often and are over priced. So I'm going to end up swaping it all from my 89 xj.

here's a pic mid way of the tear down

And this is what it looked like before I went in

During the day I had time to pull the bed cover off to see what I would be working with. 4comanche87.jpg

Not bad has a little surface rust above the gas tank fill. I plan on taking this compelety off. Sand/primer than bedliner the inside of it. At the same time por 15 or primer the unibody/frame.

Next on the list is to swap out the non working doors for some craigslist doors I recenlty picked up and order new locks for them and tuck the vaccum canister up. Also try and troubleshoot why the turn signals, flashers and brake light arent working :dunno:

Little updates. Got all the exterior lights working. Swapped over a full gauge cluster from my 89 xj. Bought a flowmaster 50 for it. P/o told me the brakes were shot. This is what i find when going to put new caliper, pads and rotors.

So now it runs, drives and stops.Have been test driving it and seems to be idleing high at stop signs after running it for about 10 minutes. Also has terrible idle at start up. Guess clean the IAC and work my from there!

Another 1987 short bed, OEM roll bar right out of 1987. 6.5inches of lift on 33s. 5 speed. 3.55 gearing 30/35 combo. Going to drive it as is than throw my 8.8 and 35s on it down the road.
