That J10 is a 3/4 ton J20. The D44HD front and matching D60 rear are good swap material even if the front is a pre-'80 pass. side drop. They are not as wide as most trucks. Swap a D300 x-fer onto the back of a 4x4 AW4, stick those axles on... :wrench:

Yup, those things would have rode home with me! Now go back and get em! :wrench: Currently have 3 D44s sitting out back,,,,just need more MJs to put them in!

Good job on your MJ, its coming along nicely!

time for an oil change :wrench:

the parts

off with the old

doesnt look too bad inside

new k&n oil filter

all back together, threw a new valve cover gasket on as well

blower stopped working,

pulled the controls to find this,

replaced the box and spliced the wires in.

also wired in a cigar lighter

all together :D

then, as i was backing out of my drive way for a late night 7-11 run,

this happened.

cop who happened to roll up beside me for gas stood there scratching their head trying to figure out what happened :dunno: ,

i guess thats what i get for leaving jugs full of oil right beside the comanche

update,

starter relay and ignition coil went on me,

replaced them with 4.0L parts and it fired right up :D

took my little truck wheeling yesterday,

came close to going over the edge, so i kicked the GF out, and thankfully didnt go over the edge :D

pic from the night before, our starting location

after a 20 min treck through the bush, we made it onto....

a new highway being built XD

oops, we came from the other side of this fence.

and this is where i almost lost it,

4th run up, with 1st gear screaming and i made it,

only shy of one pair of under garments

me and my comanche

panoramic view of where we ended up, I'm on the far right,

ended up turning around and going back the way we came.

click this link for full sized pic ^^^^^^^

there was more to take pics of,

but my co-pilot was a little shaken up after our first hill climb :shake:

you know if you get a ZJ tir rode you won't do it again  they are ALOT stronger, and if you paint it it will make it look 10 times better :)

Brandon

funny you should mention that

went to PnP a week and a bit ago got a V8 ZJ tie rod for $9.49

installed

then, did a bit of wheeling to test it out, muuuuch better,

improved steering, less delay from the wheel as well

MJ earning its keep, scored a 62" tv for under $200 :shake:

battery died, so... i checked the cables to see if there was a problem, I'm thinking so

the culprit

all done, new wires and terminals

turns out, that wasnt the only problem, seems like my alternator got fried,

so... you know what that means, out with the old, in with the heavy duty

old 65 amp alternator vs. new 115 amp alternator.

installed

while replacing the alternator, i decided to clean part of my engine bay,

found rust under the battery tray!

out comes the rust converter

all converted

and all back together,

installing factory window "covers"

just slide em in, and take a screw driver and push theese 3 clips in per door, and re assemble

all done

comanche.gif

not so random, random comanche (been staring at it for years! decided to take a trip and visit it :P )

more to come as always :D

*edit* also, did i forget to mention, my girlfriend helped me work on the truck!!! :clapping:  :wrench: :D

update,

chewed through 2 serpentine belts doing light driving in the last 2 days :fs1:

drove it home one night, then the next time i couldnt make it home, so i went to my gf's house where i fixed it after i got a ride into the next town to get parts :D

my new alternator is the culprit, the pulley on it didnt line up with the tensioner or power steering pump,

its all fixed now but not before it tore my dayco poly rib belt to shreds =[

i had to remove the stock alternator spacer and spin it around, (on the right where the bolt is)

and on the left i had to put 2 washers in to keep every thing nice and tight.

3 washers in the bottom behind the 90 degree flange ( same width as the 2 uptop)

and then 3 washers behind the alternator pulley itself (they were such a tight fit i had to drive them past the threads)

everything is lined up perfectly now :jump: comanche.gif

more to come, here's a pic of a comanche that rolled up to my work.

1989 renix 4.0l blue,

he is the second owner of this comanche and has owned it for 20 years now

You're not actually going to leave the winch bumper at the pick and pull are you? That would be a hell of a score.

if i had the extra cash, i would have done it.

right now I'm in college to become an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - M

so cash is more than a little tight,

battery died,

miss firing,

brakes are shot o_O

need an oil change. :(

well, i got a new battery,

at a SMOKING DEAL

an optima yellow top,

list price $600,

my price $200 :D

new spark plugs,

hmmm i wonder why i had a miss fire :dunno:

new meats,

on my old rims,

stoked all my rims are the same color, just need to find my beauty rings :D

now the bad,

winter time hit, i had bad tires,

end result

more too come,

havent updated old rusty because my neighbor hasnt gotten the sandblaster,

i have the medium and am ready to blast the frame, but that will have to wait till a later date.
