Motion Offroad
Received word this morning that RE is going to be closed pending reorganization. We are not able to order any further parts. Not looking good...

87Warrior
That is quite surprising. I had always assumed RE had the bulk of the bolt on Jeep suspension market. Hope they can get their act together and get cranking again...
Automan2164
Of course they are closing the doors for a bit... Just after they released that Comanche that might have shined some light on our little corner of the world. Rob L. :dunno:

Maybe they are re-tooling so we can buy a NEW bed
jpnjim
Wow. Seems like they've had a lucky horse shoe up their @sses for the last 15 years or so, I guess they got too big?!? Watching them go from the little guys, with a 1/4 page ad in the back of 4wd & SU, to a Jeep Powerhouse has been a nice ride, hopefully this is just a bump in the road. whowey
I'm guessing none of you guys have ever been on the grunt end of a reorganization or buy-out??? It's fairly typical for a business to close or really cut back operations for a few days minimum at a certain point in something like this. The accountants have a hard time counting stuff when its moving around. Its easier and quicker to stop everything... shipments in and out, payments in and out, paying payroll, etc. than it is to try and keep track of which things are included under the old rules and what is included in the new rules... Eagle
Counting stuff on the shelves is called "taking inventory," not "reorganizing." I think this is a bit more serious than just counting stuff if they're calling it "reorganizing."

I'm not saying that it's not a possibility... However being that we get a stocking order in every 2 weeks for the past few years; and we've not gotten anything since November due to item's being on "backorder" leads us to believe it's been coming for awhile. They just kept pushing the ship date back every 2 weeks promising us product. Follow by an email today stating what was shared earlier. RE was at SEMA in November; however most likely it was due to the fact that they had already paid for their spot. With that being said we're still selling all RE products we have on our shelves; we just are unable to order anything from RE that we don't have in stock. We're saddened to see this happen as RE has a quality product and we hope that it's not as serious as it seems.
whowey
Counting stuff on the shelves is called "taking inventory," not "reorganizing." I think this is a bit more serious than just counting stuff if they're calling it "reorganizing." You can call it a ham sandwich... doesn't change the fact its easier to do when noone is bugging you. And the more serious the reason you are doing it... the more thorough it is. Bankers and accountants want to know what 'EXACTLY' is in a place when they are deciding whether they are going to refinance a company or not. I've worked on some due diligence inventories that were relatively lax.. and others where we had to count individual bolts in maintenance supply rooms. I'm not saying this isn't something serious going on with them, but there may be a heck of a lot more going on than is being publicly said by them currently. gogetemturbo
Woah! This is crazy. I know one of the guys there personally and he kept it all under his hat REALLY well. I didn't see this coming at all. I knew they had backorders stacking up for their control arms but most companies go through that occasionally. Crazy stuff. whowey
Now here is a question... are they at KOH today???? If they are closing, they took some serious steps to preserve their reputation. They reduced inventory, and obviously stopped taking raw material in, reduced restricted cash. To me this says they aren't planning to disappear from the market. Motion Offroad
Woah! This is crazy. I know one of the guys there personally and he kept it all under his hat REALLY well. Scott? Update: According to Scott as of today, and they have no plans to permanently shut down; though all RE employee's have been laid-off as of yesterday. We're being told that it will at least be 4 weeks; though could be easily upto 4 months. They are simply restructuring some things that will (hopefully) allow them to suit the needs of the off-road community better than ever. Rumor has it that it may involve a very large international offroad company.

I'm happy to know that they have plans to come back.

I'll be glad if they can come back as before (feels weird even typing that), but I hope it's not as the 'Extreme' line of some big, out of touch manufacturer. Thanks for the update. Automan2164
Think ARB would be in the market to buy a lift company? Maybe Jeep is buying them to have them the the Mopar lift co. I can dream can't I? Rob L.
