shelbyluvv
I am removing the 2000 front end from my truck. I want to go back to stock. What year is this front end? Mine was a 86 and had it. Any other years use this one?
October_V
Isn't it something like 86-89 the same? So what are you planning for the 2000 front end? Saving it or selling?
Geonovast
I think he pieced it together from different trucks. I'm not sure but I think the 10 slot grill was available up through 90.
Automan2164
I have the same header panel on my '87. Your talking about the how the '86 style has the chrome trim above the grille? I know Brent's truck is an '88 and I believe its original. Rob L.
deziped
86 header and hoods are different than 87+. Grill are the same fit,
spence
The 10 slot grill was '86 & '87. The 8 slot started in '88. I think the '84 ('85 model) through '86 XJ Wagoneers had a 21 slot grill if you want something different. Looks like a 10 slot with a gland problem. Eagle
The older 8-slot grilles used the older header and headlight trim. The chrome trim strip across the top was three separate pieces, one for the center and two curved pieces over the headlights. In 1990 (I think) Chrysler revised/simplified it so the upper trim band was an integral part of the grille and the headlight bezels. The newer style takes a different header panel, but from ten feet away they look the same.

500 MJ
Wow, I never saw this until now. Yes, I did piece that one together. This setup is what I know as the "7 piece" front end as there are 7 parts to the setup including the grille. It seems to be found on all of the years that were prior to '91. I believe that the 10 slot grille was stock until '87, the 8 slots replaced them until '97. My '88 came with an 8 slot and I swapped it onto the truck. The stainless/chrome trim around everything was swapped on as well.
Automan2164
Wow, I never saw this until now. I was going to give you a heads up on this, but figured you'd find it. Just didn't know it would take this long! How the heck did you find this? Rob L.
Eagle
The 10-slot grille was used from 1984 (XJ) through 1987. The grille itself was changed to 8 slots in 1988 and continued through 1989. In 1990, the grille remained 8 slots but the entire grille and header assembly were redesigned to use fewer parts. The trim strip above the grille and headlights, which was a separate part (three separate parts) on the early ones was integrated into the grille and headlight bezels beginning in 1990. The front end in that photo could be made up from 1984 through 1987 parts.
shelbyluvv
Thanks fellas. Sadly I have given up trying to find a nice stocker at this point. I will eventually find the right one.
500 MJ
What parts do you need? I've got lots of the grille parts, but I myself am still on the hunt for another good header panel. I hope to find one in these upcoming weekends on trips to local yards... Wow, I never saw this until now. I was going to give you a heads up on this, but figured you'd find it. Just didn't know it would take this long! How the heck did you find this? Rob L. I was doing a search on headlight upgrades (Headlights are pretty weak on the '90) and this came up in the search. :dunno:
