axle seal

Recommended Posts

check your oil everyday. you should be fine for awhile if you remember to do that. don't do any wheelin or pulling and you should be okay till you get a chance to change the seal. its not a very ez job, but it can be done without screwing with the gears.

If you want to ruin your axle and possibly your u-joints, trans etc. let time tell. If you run out of fluid bad stuff can happen. I watch mine and if one leaked that bad I would start looking for another axle, not a Dana 35 if this is what you have. In my opinion it's not cost effective to have a shop press the bearings and races off and on just to change the seals. If you do that you should buy new bearings. For what it would cost you could upgrade to a D44 or a 8.25 crysler.
