MjPioneer
To be short here, my younger brother who is knew to the Jeep world ordered himself a 6.5" Long arm kit via Rough Country two Saturdays ago, last Thursday he got Leaf Springs from them...well it's a week later and he has not gotten anything else, so it's been two weeks since he ordered the lift and all we have is one piece of it!....Called Ups they said they had nothing else at the warehouse, Rough Country says they shipped it out, and our Tracking # says that everything has been delivered. I thought maybe he made a mistake and only ordered the leafs on accident, his receipt is up to par, all $1500 of it is on that piece of paper but not at my parents house. :fs1: what should he/we do now? Play the waiting game or just complain to RC so many times they'll be forced to return his money?
MrFreeze5
You will have to file a claim with UPS. But if you did not have insurance on the shipment, you may be SOL. Its possible the packages could have been taken after delivery if they were just left, since UPS doesnt seem to give 2 craps about signatures anymore. I hope you got the insurance on your shipment!!! Bounty Hunter
UPS should show how many boxes were sent and how many were delivered. If they scanned the correct number of boxes at time of delivery, sounds like somebody helped themselves to half a lift.
MrFreeze5
Were you only given one tracking number? You should have several for an entire lift kit.
jpdocdave
Ya, sounds like Rough Country shows they sent the whole lift out, so they're end is done. You need to see how many boxes Rough Country shows they shipped, and how many UPS shows they delivered. If they're numbers match, you're in trouble, if they don't, UPS may be at fault. kastein
yep this is where you put the screws on UPS. FedEx did this crap to me a month or so ago, some parts were "delivered" but required no signature so they just left em on the front porch of a 20+ unit apartment building in a shady neighborhood. Of course they weren't there when I got home. Called up and registered my displeasure with them, the unhelpful phone person insisted there was nothing that could be done because no signature was required... I noted that the week before they had withheld a delivery that also didn't require a signature and I was extremely displeased. A week later just as I was getting ready to leave for work I heard the doorbell, walked to the front door to find the fedex guy standing inside the hall (not supposed to be able to get in) literally throwing the package down the stairs at my door. Apparently they "delivered" it to the wrong place or never delivered it at all and figured they'd get away with it. Ever since then they have been extremely careful with my stuff, I guess being the squeaky wheel / complaining because they are a pack of idiots resulted in them keeping an eye on my shipments better. They even leave "we delivered this so it aint our fault if it disappears" slips on the front door next to the package now.

I had a drive shaft delivered to my house downtown in a small town. I never recieved the driveshaft. When I did the online tracking system... lo and behold D.River signed for my shaft.... Well... there is no D or River in my name... put them together and you get.... DRIVER... They had no valid proof of delivery and I had no shaft. Fed-ex bought me a new one. About six months later.. I see a suspicious looking piece of trash on the next block over. I stop and check... its my drive shaft. Fed-ex had delivered the shaft to XX West ...street. I live at XX East ...street. terrawombat
Everyone has a UPS or FedEx horror story. Truth of the matter is - you're stuck with either. In my experience, FedEx is far better than UPS at handling lost/damaged package claims. I had a very large, very heavy, $8,000 piece of shop equipment delivered via FedEx Freight. The place I bought it from didn't package it like you'd expect something of this nature to be packaged, so naturally, it was damaged. My first thought was to refuse shipment, but I had waited three months for this thing to be built so I wasn't about to wait another three more. I quickly assessed the damage, took some photographs (I had my camera ready because I had a funny feeling it would come damaged), and determined that the damage was mainly cosmetic and the operation of the machine wouldn't be hindered. I was right, sort of. Somehow the electronics mainboard was fried even though it was tested at the factory prior to shipment. The factory refused to replace it since they had records that it tested fine, but they'd happily sell me another for $500. I called FedEx and they were very helpful and apologetic and long story short, they cut me a check for $750. We did just get a new FedEx delivery driver and he never, ever delivers packages to MY house, always my neighbor. Luckily my neighbors are my parents so it's generally pretty easy to get the package. The problem is that my parents love to open up my packages to see what I bought. It's usually just car parts and nothing embarrassing, but it's just annoying. Yep, my parents used to "accidentally" open my checking account statements. Made me pretty glad I was smart enough to buy my beer with cash only (they're very anti-alcohol.) I fixed the problem by moving out and sending my mail to my place... well not intentionally but that's how it ended up being fixed. The comedy option is to order some crazy set of stuff that could be construed as really fishy and they'll either ask you about it or never open your packages again  say... a few dozen feet of pipe, a gun sight, a grill lighter, and a 50 pound bag of potatoes. Haha - except it would only be funny to me. My father would need a definitive answer on what each item would be used for. I could just say it was for a project and that'd be okay with my Mom, but my Dad would pry and pry and wouldn't accept an answer unless it made perfect sense to him. A few days ago I bought a set of brass punches and a brass hammer because I sat at my desk at work and thought to myself - I really need a brass hammer and punch set...I could have used this on my last RMS job and there are always things I booger up with my BFH. So, I ordered a set and it was FedEx'd to me yesterday, which naturally means it goes to my parents house...where it was opened and inspected by my father. I silently creeped up the driveway and tried to take my package without anyone noticing, but I was caught. My father appears out of nowhere and asks what I need a brass hammer for. I said nothing at the moment. Well, then why did I buy it? My response (and this has been a response I've used a lot recently) was because I can. My parents used to open up my checking account statements, too, but I couldn't really blame them since it was a joint account in my name and my father's name. That was really annoying...I would get questioned about EVERY transaction. My favorite was a couple of charges for lap dances for my friends at a strip club in London. There were three $24 charges from the same location within a 10 minute span. The charges showed up as 'Delicious Restaurant' which was awesome because I told him that I bought three rounds of shots for everyone at a bar that must have been called Delicious Restaurant... She stopped. But it's your mother. Given all of the things provided to me by my parents (including life) over the last 25 years, I would be the most ungrateful SOB on the face of this planet if I turned in one of them because they opened my mail... I just asked them politely to stop and they did for a while - I think they just need a reminder. It doesn't really bother me much anymore since any 'sensitive' material - bills, statements, Craigslist Personals :brows: - is all delivered to me online...where every hacker in the world can see it! Just as long as it's not my parents...

Jeepman
I think one of your biggest problems is going to be that he accepted the Delivery without checking to see how many pieces where suposed to be there because if he did not accept the package knowing there were missing pieces then it would be covered 100% as the delivery would have got sent back to Rough country and then they would have filed the claim and re sent you a new shipment...
