I dream of making the 6,500mi, round trip, from KS to the Savage Trail outside of Denali National Park in a Jeep.

Last year I was in AK on vacation and took a Jeep trip into the Yukon. I was surprised how easy it was to drive into Canada. The guy at the gate only asked for my passport, the driver, and asked if we had any booze or firearms. Getting back into AK was almost as easy, just the guy wanted all of our passports.

Have fun and take lots of pictures!

I've driven the ALCAN twice all the way and twice partially. I've had to ship firearms before crossing the border...IIRC shotguns are ok, rifles and handguns aren't. My kitted up SKS was not ok. Canada is absolutely beautiful, no better road trip on earth. My two partial trips we took the ferry that runs from BC to Haines, AK. It's the best poor man's cruise going. Made the trip to Deadhorse from Fairbanks for a Caribou hunt... You can't rifle hunt anywhere along the Dalton highway within a 5 mile corridor or use a motorized vehicle of any sort to get beyond the five mile corridor. So a buddy and me drove up just south of Deadhorse from Ft Wainwright, we get there and it's dark of course, we snowshoe out five miles and pitch a tent, roll up in arctic bags and wait for light to come. It was 35 below and we must have been absolutely nuts (I was a little younger then). We were thinking we were going to wake up in a giant herd herd of arctic meat beasts...and the only thing we saw in the morning was absolute pure tundra nothingness! Just a vast and eerily silent pure white wasteland and not a caribou track in sight. Needless to say we were a bit frozen and discouraged for the 5 mile trek back to the XJ.

I'm drilling on the Alaska highway right now staying in a bed and breakfast just outside of Fort Nelson if your going right through BC you'll see my home town Prince George also if your going to Yukon stop by Dawson City and have a Sourtoe cocktail.

Ok so I'm out in the parking lot next to the Carabou Artic Inn. $125 per person per night, ya right, ill sleep in the van for free.

Otherwise I went and dipped my feet in the arctic ocean and took pics.

Last night we made the arctic circle at 10pm local time, cooked a few steaks and drank more beers than I count and headed further north, about 2 hours later when the sun set we stopped for the night.

Didn't see any Carabou or bears, but did see a muskox. Lots of hunters are returning south with many carabou racks stacked on top of their trucks. Lots of hunters camped north of attigan pass along the tundra.

The tundra is weird stuff, its like walking on a giant memory foam bed. Weird little tree's too.

Foot after stepping in Arctic ocean:

Currently in Puyallup. Heading to rainier national park. Got dome fish and vegetables at the pike place market. Then got happy hour and beer looking over the water there.

Went to napa to get yet another fuel filter(been getting lots of water in fuel problems. Damm canuckian gas) and air filter. Noticed they had wild blackberries growing so we stopped and picked a bunch. Planning to make some jungle juice with them.

Oh and I grabbed a few pics of the cute Asian girl who served us at the bar for you guys.

I'm only a few miles from Puyallup; should have given all of us local CC members a bit more notice... We could have arranged a pow-wow or something.

Don't forget to post the pic of the hot asian chick.

Well since I was stealth taking them with an iphone I didn't manage to get all the ones I thought(there is a noticeable delay between when you push the button and when the photo is taken), but I'll post what I got.
