Automan2164
Earlier in the week, Peter (WFC) was looking for someone with a stock height MJ to come by and perch next to the landspeed record truck for grins. The only MJ that I have thats street worthy was the Unicorn (the Hunter green Eliminator), so I took that. It sits a bit lower than standard MJ's, but I don't think its ever been played with. Close enough. We also measured how much the LSR truck was dropped compared to a stock truck. Turns out its about an 8 inch difference when we measured here and there. He has about 2-3 inches from the ground to the bottom of the LCA mount on the frame. I saw the Rusty's offroad sticker on the back, and asked him what he trusted with them on a truck that goes crazy fast, looks like he's running the upper and lower controls arms from Rusty's... They look pretty beefy though. He also showed me the counterweight that they are making up, and are going to fill with concrete. He said its going to be about 450 Lbs, and will go into the bed just forward of the rear axle. While I still haven't heard it run... :fs1: I got to sit in it, and so did the girlfriend. Lets just say that the cockpit of that thing is not for the claustrophobic. I had to squeeze in sideways, and shimmy into the seat. Couldn't even imagine being in it and having to make a quick exit. Peter said they are shooting for 180 MPH this time around, and are leaving next Wednesday for the flats. We discussed aerodynamics, and possibly removing the flares for speed. He mentioned about the Lakeview Cruiser (350 Powered Landspeed MJ) lost the cab vents on a run, so he glued his on, and will put something on the top of the cab to keep the windshield in at 180+... :D Here are a few of the pics I took, enjoy. Going to have to thank the GF for getting this one with my eyes shut. :shake: I have always thought my '92 Eliminator sits a bit low to begin with, here is a pic of it next to the Metric ton: I wish someone with a lifted MJ could have been there to really make that LSR truck look goofy. :rotf: Rob L.
