green_miner Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 found a cheap 3 inch lift off a xj and was wondering if the add a leaf would work on my 86 mj?
Geonovast Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 It might give you a little bit, but not much. XJ leaves are shorter, and are designed to lay flat at stock height. MJ leaves have a curve to them. If you want a 3" lift, check out Hellcreek for their leaf packs... a lift pack is much better than an AAL.
Pete M Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 yup, AALs designed for XJs will tend to give about half of the advertised lift when used on an MJ.
ComancheKid45 Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 An XJ AAL will net about 1/2 the height when installed on an MJ....so a 3" XJ AAL will net ya roughly no more than 1.5" on an MJ
86FUBAR Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Well for what its worth when i put the 4" xj lift on my manch some 8 years ago and i put the add a leafs in the back and it sat level , infact the add a leafs are still in the truck to this day and are still working fine , i have since gone SOA aswell to net me near 9" of lift . o and the lift was made by trail master

I think they are called black diamond now... But I was always curious... Rob L.
dunl Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 It might give you a little bit, but not much. XJ leaves are shorter, and are designed to lay flat at stock height. MJ leaves have a curve to them. So how much lift will a Cherokee axle give Comanche, if swapped over and the perches are just moved over instead of relocated to the other side of the axle? It is something stupid like 9", or less?
Geonovast Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 The axles themselves are the same. Taking an MJ axle off the top of the springs, and putting it under is the same as removing the MJ axle, and putting an XJ axle on underneath. These should help you:
dunl Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 So then, one would assume that the springs provide the same amount of lift (disregarding the AAL)?
