bighause
After searching for an hour or so on this site about shocks, I've decided to skip the Monroe shocks and either order from Rusty's or Rocky-Road. What good or bad things do you have to say about the 2 or are they pretty much he same thing? They are within $20 of each other, so price isn't an issue. BTW, I have about 5" of lift with stock mounts front and rear. Thanks for the advice.
the_wizard_of_fire
NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM RUSTYS!!!!!!!! that is all...
CWLONGSHOT
I would not buy cheap shocks ever again... I will especially never buy Rustys again...even again. There are many "good" shocks out there without sacrificing too much ride quality. Whats your price range? You cannot go wrong with Old man Emu or Bilstein. bighause
Despite the bad press on the 2 companies, I have had only great experiences with them both and will continue to due business with them. Their shocks are nearly the same price as the "cheap" Monroe's that others here use on their trucks. I agree OME makes great stuff, my Liberty has OME shocks and springs, but it is my daily driver. I'm not spending $300 on shocks for my $1200 beater Comanche that might see 1500 miles a year. I'm looking for PERSONAL experience on the 2 shocks, not what you have heard about one of the companies. If you have run one of these two, let me know what you think about them please.
JeepcoMJ
agreed...neither. if it takes some $$$, get yourself good shocks...because $#!&ty shocks end up going to hell, and replacing them with $#!&ty shocks will still result in you spending the same amount had you bought nice shocks from the get-go. 89eliminator
cheap white body shocks are all the same so it really doesnt matter where you get them besides the label. ditto on getting some decent shocks too. the phrase you get what you pay for really shines in the shock industry. Ironwolf
NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM RUSTYS!!!!!!!! that is all... I was looking at their 8" long travel kit. Is this really not a good idea? My other pic was Rough Country 6.5" lift.
mnkyboy
Mnkyboy, how do those shocks ride on the road? Are they lightly valved like the website says? Thanks for the reply I think it rides much better then it did stock. I have them with OME springs up front and SOA in the rear and it does seem to have a pretty soft smooth ride even with my screwed up suspension/steering geometry up front(still on stock LCAs,for now).
