clutch ???

Recommended Posts

I'd say about a 7, depending on if you've got some help and a level surface to work on.

Transmission has to come out, and you're going to need to disconnect the clutch line, reattach, and bleed when you put the trans back in.

It's going to be a little easier with a 2.5.

Make sure you get the funny clutch alignment tool that fits into the pilot bearing.

I changed the clutch in my 90 YJ. Dropped the transmission and transfer case. Was a royal PAIN without the transmission attachment for the floor jack. I found it was easier to pull the motor out of my Rubi, with hoist and engine leveler, than to drop the transmission and transfer case in the YJ.

Make sure you replace the pilot, throw out, and slave (if internal) while down there.

I've reinstalled the top 2 male torx screws before :D

I just consider them as a "anti-tamper" screw :brows:

The worst clutch job I've done, the pilot shaft "welded" it's self into the pilot bearing :fs1:

I had to use a come-along from the tranny to the rear axle to "pull" the tranny out :headpop:

Talk about many hours under the truck, turning the tranny every which way, and prying on it with everything on hand :wall:

Check the crank position sensor and the wire going to it, maybe you pinched the wire, or it came undone.

Either that or something from the clutch or flywheel physically took out the CPS.

When you reinstalled the bell housing, can we assume that you put the locating dowels back in so the bell housing is correctly and accurately aligned on the block? The clearance between the CPS and the teeth on the flywheel is only a few thousandths. If the bell housing isn't exactly where it should be, there may be an interference fit there.
