GirsMJ86
yea sorry. my 91 has the two on the pillars behind the seats that all MJs have. but it also has one on each side down by your feet. i think they were spliced in but they work just like the domes and really brighten up the cab which those stupid domes alone can't do. Alex Mine didn't have them either, BUT they where wired from the factory. I added some form an XJ and they plugged right in and worked fine!!! NICE ADDITION!!! CW they are a nice addition to these things. the two pillar lights just don't make enought light but its weird how if you put in the 2 kick lights how much brighter the cab is. armybmbsqd
Check ouy my replacement lights. I used a set of military aircraft cockpit lights. They have changeable white/green lenses and are adjustable to light about any location in the truck. Pat 89 MJ 4.7 L Stroker
CWLONGSHOT
How about a couple NIGHT pics of the light those puppys produce??? You know some from inside and some from outside. CW
armybmbsqd
They really aren't that bright. They were originally designed for 24 V and had to find 12 V lamps to fit. They do change from spot to flood and have green "night vision" lenses. I also added a lighted rear view mirror and under dash lights. No shortage of light in my MJ now!! ejndssn
just a question on this how are you going to control this light. I know that the original light was a three position switch and these most likely will have to be controlled from the light switch on the dash. which is cool unless you want to control the individually. I hadn't decided... I was thinking about just using the stock switch, I had also thought of using an on/off pushbutton right next to them, and I also thought of doing both... we'll see... BrettM
I got them today and tried 'em out. They aren't real bright, and point straight down since they are liscence plate lights, but they will work for me. I'm going to order 1 more and run one near each factory location and 1 between the sun visors. pics some other time
HOrnbrod
VW Beetle interior lights pop right in the same hole w. very minor shaving. Even have the 3-position switch so wiring is the same. They are a lot brighter too.

Kenosha Warrior
I don't care. Mine work. off and on, they're on the same circut as my radio which refuses to work off and on, same as the lights but they still work!
HOrnbrod
I guess I missed it. What's your point?? I think it's kind of okay to open your MJ door in the middle of the night (especially after a few brews) and have the cab light up so I you can find the keyhole, or whatever else you need at the time. :~)

HOrnbrod
The VW interior light uses a 12V 211-2 bulb. These are available in several wattages and also in LED. Plus the VW lens is clear and has a better reflector, so it's better suited for more light. I wouldn't want to read a book for several hours with these but they are better than the crappy MJ Renault original interior lights IMHO.

Oizarod115
i found these on ebay... interior BMW lights from an 88 525 look pretty close to stock but look alot brighter... PLEASE don't FIGHT ME! # 270053053000 what do yall think?
HOrnbrod
Don't see a 3-position switch on these - look like just ON/OFF 2-wire so you can just wire them to the door switch wire. Rather have the switch so I can turn them on while the doors are shut. But the size looks right, probably Hella units.

PLEASE don't FIGHT ME! # 270053053000 what do yall think? Well, I used the oh-so accurate method of holding an MJ light up to the screen to check fit :D . The picture on the screen is exactly as wide as my light, and the heighth is slightly shorter. Hopefully the picture shows them too small. If it's accurate, then you'll need to fill in space on the top and/or bottom of the light mounting place. Lol, I feel retarded cause of how innacurate that method is. Oh well, tryin to help. feerocknok
Bringing back this thread as to not hijack the rearview mirror thread currently going. Does anyone have any ideas on how to wire a switch so that my lights Don't come on when I open the doors, but I can flip the switch and have them come on again? Was thinking of wiring it off the fuse box.
