case5412 Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Great job! That's some nice work. I want your old wood grain interior piece, lol. :brows: :brows: :brows:
64 Cheyenne Posted November 29, 2009 Author Posted November 29, 2009 I'm not sure if I still have it, if I do, pay shipping and its yours. Edit: Sorry It's gone :dunno:
64 Cheyenne Posted December 29, 2009 Author Posted December 29, 2009 Got the sway bar drop brackets fixed today, yeah I know, I could have just got extended links for it. It came with the DBs so I figured I'd go with the setup that is already on it. Might have to pull the left side one off if it has clearance problems with the pitman arm. That was pretty much the last of the major underside stuff to be done, got a few other small issues to fix then she'll be roadworthy. I been really wanting a grill guard for it, but seems that cost and distances are keeping me from getting one I want. Oh well, hopefully time and patience will pay off with a good deal in the future. If all else fails I'm thinking of cutting and modifying the one that was on my last TJ to fit. 64 Cheyenne Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 Well It's done as it is gonna get for now. I'm sure in the future It'll get more. BTW I bought an extra AX-15 and 231 for $125 this past weekend, I'll probably put it in this truck when the BA-10 goes south. Maybe someday It will get paint. Tomorrow, time to cruise.
Macker72 Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Any plans to remove the BA-10 alltogether and swap in something a little less French? Missed a post... swap in that spare AX-15 straight away!
64 Cheyenne Posted January 25, 2010 Author Posted January 25, 2010 Naw.... I'm gonna wait a while before I start anything else on this truck. It is good to know that I have a complete AX-15 for when the time comes, hopefully not too soon. Reason I'm not going to do this swap right away is I just got this truck drivable, want to enjoy it for a while. Another reason is I have a 94 Astro that needs head work taken care of first, and what with school and all it doesn't look like the tranny swap on this MJ is going to happen in the near future........knock on wood....... Plus the other MJ that was supposedly my "primary" MJ project.
64 Cheyenne Posted June 12, 2010 Author Posted June 12, 2010 It's been a while since Ive last updated on this truck. I put 31 10 Treadwrights on it and as expected I turned it into a cool looking dog. The gear ratio immediately became unbearable. I knew that if I continued to run it this way, I would eventually need a clutch. Exploder Donor Image Not Found Paid my nephew to pull the turdy five. Prepping the 8.8 for new gears and installation The plan is to reuse the existing spring perches, hubcentric wheel spacers (so I can run the jeep wheels I have) weld shock mounts to the axle. Use the DS I had fabbed for the other truck. While the truck is down, I'm also going to do an AX15 swap (with new clutch assy). I really don't want the Goat making up its own mind on when it is going to fail. For the front axle, I'm taking the D30 out of the XJ (recently stripped-as seen in the photos) rebuild the center section. Put the axles out of the existing axle in it (they're already rebuilt). Then that axle will be regeared with 4.56s, larger one piece axles and a Lock-Right for the 87.
reson46 Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 I think the Exploder pictures are worthy of some explanation. :???: Did you just come across a rolled Exploder on the side of a mountain road? :rotfl2: Willy
reson46 Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 yes :D viewtopic.php?f=3&t=23204 Thanks!
UglyAmerican00 Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 I could really use your help on redoing my 88 mj. I'm worried I'm going to screw it up . first thing I want to do is fix the radio and the dome lights. (niether turn on)
