Recommended Posts

I'm looking to take parts home from a rhd cherokee to make a comanche rhd. I'm not sure everything i'll need but i know the steering, proly firewall, some of the internals of the dash and proly a different axle depeneding on the diff location. I'm looking for any help from seasoned vets or anyone with a clue about swaps. i got a lil over a year to still collect all the parts. thanks a bunch guys

if you can even find a RHD cherokee is the first question. they're rare

you need to swap the entire firewall

heaterbox

dash

dash wiring

engine bay wiring

steering box (need to modify pass. side of frame)

steering linkages.

gauge cluster

switch panels

dash clock or blockoff panel

knee board

idk but there may be quite a few smaller parts from the engine bay needed. I'd imagine you'll also need the throttle cable as well.

I'm out in japan right now, the only huge problem i see is trying to get a local to help me out in finding a junk yard to scrap the stuff off

oh. lol.

you're best off having them chop the entire front half of the jeep off shipping it wherever you need.

its too bad they didn't sell diesel XJs/MJs in Japan........you could have brought home a very nice swap.

FYI your probably more likely to find a 97+ XJ front half cut.......and since you have to pull the dash and everything anyways, might as well upgrade it to a nicer interior.
