jtdesigns
This guy I know has a Rustys 4.5 lift for a XJ. Front coils, rear pack, and lower arms.. He told me he'd sell it to me for 200.. I know everybody hates Rustys but still seems like a good deal.. :dunno: He has some more lift stuff for sale to.. I told him Id put it up for sale here. Anyone interested? I'm waiting for him to send me some pics of everything..
Pete M
Isn't there more to a 4.5 lift than LCAs and springs?
89eliminator
plus you won't be able to use the rear leaf pack if its for an XJ.
jtdesigns
It would be going on my XJ as the mj is 2wd.. Has a adjustable t-bar but its separate. Oh and disconnects separate also. I really just talked to him on the phone for about 5 mins.. His wife and I has a Spanish class together. I'll get the pictures and talk with him more.. Any specific questions I need to be asking?? kyjeepmj
I'm not sure what everyone else thinks but Ive ran Rustys 6.5" lift on my 86 MJ and 87 XJ and loved them. It took a few trips for the springs to break in but after that they were awsome. And I know he stands behind his stuff. I rolled my MJ broke the track bar and bent an uca. I called him and talked to him for about 15min then about 2 weeks later I got a new extra heavy duty track bar and new upper with no cost to me. can't ask for better than that in my book. If I buy a new lift anytime soon it will be Rustys. But thats just me lol..........JT

I know several folks that have dealt with them and all I have heard is bad including many of the people on here. Poor quality, poor customer service etc, etc... jtdesigns
I won't have to deal with customer service. I guess I can check it out with my own eyes for the quality.. What some important issues to look for?? What would I need to look at if I had to visually inspect the parts???? My XJ would just look 100X better with just a small lil lift like that. I understand I'll need longer brake hoses, adjustable t-bar, new u-bolts, drop pitman arm(??) I've never dealt with coil spring lift before, but I've read a million and one posts about it.. 4.5" would allow 33's if I ever decided to right??? JeepcoMJ
4.5 allows 33's with pretty good trimming...nothing serious, but proper trimming does help. anyways, RUN AWAY

I just hate to put more money into a lift then I paid for the whole Jeep..... man, you're talking to the KING of cheap comanches (not to sound conceded)...i know how you feel. but, the 3800 started out as a $300 abandoned mj in a field...now it's around $8500 in the hole, and the 87 was $700 worth of scrap (all leftover scrap from previous projects...I made money on those projects so that = free in my book) and now it's $4000 in if I figure everything into it. BUT then again...I made money off the parts left over from everything anyways, so...it all balances out. buying a good new lift or great quality used parts is the way to go...I just suggest steering away from used rusty's parts, alot more than i suggest steering away from new rusty's parts. plus, why did he take the lift off anyways? what broke on it :rotf:
jtdesigns
plus, why did he take the lift off anyways? what broke on it :rotf: D@mNed good point... :wrench: I guess thats the first question Ill ask... But, I'm pretty sure he went higher.. I know he threw a Currie ARB locked 9" w/ 4.86(??) under his Jeep.... so I'm sure 4.5 just wasnt cutting it.. :dunno:
pingpong
I would say buy it.. and flip it for a small profit. I would buy the springs if they are true 4.5 springs and not an AAL. I have run Rusty's 808 coils (6.5) and I really liked them. I got them used and abused the hell out of them, and still have them in my garage. See thats the thing its pretty cheep.. I mean I might take this Jeep off road now and again. Nothing crazy, but I do lots of camping and I might gain from it, vrs lose from at least not giving it a shot..... arggggggggggg :fs1:

I need the rear springs.. I don't care if they are rusty's. The springs under the Turd have some neagtive arch going on the passenger side
