armybmbsqd
I was going through my spare change to roll it up (and spend it!!) and I found a penny that has no head. The tail side is normal but the head side is missing. There is a small ridge around the edge and the head area is counter sunk. Not sure if this is real or some sort of intentional modification. Years ago i saw a penny that had a dime inserted into it. Tail side Head side I was going to try and clean it up but don't want to mess with it if it's real. earl*t
Not an expert and the picture isn't real clear on the blank side. If it is a real penny it would be an "error" coin making it worth more. Check with a dealer or search numismatic.
SuperWade2
Looks like one that someone did a high school acid experiment on, or something similar... I doubt anything "special"...
Sir Sam
looks like a crappy damaged penny. not worth the film you took the picture with.

armybmbsqd
looks like a crappy damaged penny. not worth the film you took the picture with. Sorry for the crappy pics but it is not just a damaged penny. There is a a defined ridge around the coin where the face should be and it is flat. I doubt you could do something like that in high school on acid :D It was either intentionally done with some skill or it is a mint mistake. The lenses I have for my Nikon DSLR won't get a close enough image to see the details of the ridge. Maybe I'll try to clean it up and take some better pics. BLHTAZ
I cleaned it and zoomed it the best I could. It doesn't look like a hack job to me...
earl*t
The U.S. Mint has very stringent quality control making "error coins" rare. It always seemed odd that a mistake would make something more desirable and more valuable.
aemsee
Here are a couple of (bad) pics of a mis-struck quarter I've had for a while. The date is visible and there are no ridges on the edge.
im4degreesaboveu
don't know much about your camera but there should be a function to switch to macro thats for taking really close up shots with clarity.
aemsee
If you are talking about mine, that IS on macro. I could have done better. It was mostly a lighting vs shiny object thing. Not the camera's fault :D
tazjeeper
looks like a miss print to me. but may not be woth anything. I have a dime size nickle. That is a nickle that is printed on a dime. its worth a hole 7 cents. was a missprint from the mint in 82 or 83. they think their is about one hundred in cirulation and its value is 7 cents. I can't understand it that it's worth less then the en cents it was supost to be but what ever. I keep it as a convo pice with the other strange stuff I find. like the 1 cent governoment cheaque. I was paid wrong so they sent me a cheaque for a penny. I was told that it cost about 60 bucks in man hours and the cheaque itself to make. lol I would take pics but I have a crappy camera with the wrong date so no point. Take the penny to a dealer and see if they can help.
Pete M
My little canon has the typical "macro" setting. but then has an additional "magnify" setting. I can get insanely close to things.
