Catatonic Comanche Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 What is the BEST glue for re-attaching "Comanche" logos, "Jeep" letters, "4x4" logos and the "4.0 High Output" logo? I was considering using "Mighty Putty". Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, any advice of aligning those "Jeep" letters for re-gluing would be gratly appreciated. V/R  Paul
djag12 Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Double sided trim tape. Can get it at advanced auto. To align them if you have a magnet you can use as a straight edge guide.
james750 Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I would use a good double sided tape like the 3M with a foam carrier. Last time I used Lord adhesive which worked a little too well and ripped all the paint off on that part of the fender when I removed them.
fiatslug87 Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Also, any advice of aligning those "Jeep" letters for re-gluing would be gratly appreciated. That's the beauty of the pre-91s, they're held in by pins & sheet metal nuts so the header is drilled, can't misalign them. I would put painter's tape down as a straight edge guide, I don't think a magnet will work, the header is fiberglass/plastic and the letters are non-ferrous (at least mine are). I used 3M trim adhesive tape as stated above for the other emblems and it works great (nice and clean) and looks great. It comes in a variety of widths so take your emblems with you.
