atlnq9 Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 I just bought this 91 comanche with 4.0L engine and when I changed the oil it had a greenish tint. I can't imagine what would cause this, coolant doesn't mix with oil... Does anybody have any thoughts on what would cause this?
jtdesigns Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Call the PO and ask them if they used Brad Penn oil in it..
BLHTAZ Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I know Valvoline colors their Synthetic Gear Oil green, but I don't think I have seen engine oil be green before.
aemsee Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Didn't seem unusually thick, did it? Someone trying to cover up low oil pressure with gear oil?
atlnq9 Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 no it wasn't thick and the oil pressure is fine. the valve cover and gasket were replaced just prior to my purchase, could it have been an additive to check for oil leaks? I thought those usually just required a uv light to see the color though?

exjay33 Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Did the oil have a sweet kind of smell to it ? If so it might be hurricane oil it will not smoke like dino oil it is used in racing applications . Someone my be trying to hide a smoking problem .
possum Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Call the PO and ask them if they used Brad Penn oil in it.. We used it in the race car. Weird stuff, kinda looks like alien blood or something.
