My rear driveshaft slipped out (Odd) and kidna messed it's splines. Thus I couldn't get it back in. I turned around and 2wheeled it out. Other than my front axle went boom.

It was a good night. I'll get her tomorrow.

...and I thought I had a bad night wrestling with the cylinder head on my car....

Did you fubar the splines on the TC output or on the slipyoke? If it's the yoke, I have a YJ yoke (somewhere in my mess o' parts) I can send ya (?) Or, maybe think about an SYE.....

This is why it is important to flex you rig using mechanical means and not just static flexing. My rear shafts shortens 3/4 of an inch at full drop and lengthens almost an inch at full stuff.

Personally if it was my rig I would make a square shaft and call it good, but you drive yours on the road, so I don't know what to tell you

I'm going to try using pinon flange shims (if you can call them that) to compress the D/S 1/2" more than it was before. Hopefully it won't bottom out.

Oh, I got the thing out. Gonna start teardown tonight and see what's going on.

it only takes a moment to change shafts right?

why not square shaft for the hardcore offroading days,

and keep the other for road driving.

and, 24 INCHES OF TRAVEL!!!! whatd you shackle reverse it? holy CRAP.

I keep changing my wheelbase, cause I'm a tard.

Swapping back and forth, IMO, wouldn't be a bad move for you if you need the extra travel. Mine takes about 2-3 minutes to get in, so I guess 5 minutes to swap em, and I work slow.

Off Topic: When are you gonna update your avitar?!

Posted

Those 12 pointers that I got from the stealership had red-locktite preapplied.

10 minutes? @#$%, try half a day.

(Oh, and if you're asking about my avitar... it ain't gonna change!)

well once you broke them loose it would be a 10 minute job right? '

(i like his avatar, but i had to go back and find the pics of his real rig to see which one he was talkin bout in this thread. )

Yup.. you have to love ford's pre apply loc-tite to the flange bolts.

I have a pretty flexy rig, and I know a lot of ppl running shackle reversal CJ's and a couple running 1/4 ellipticals, and the most I have heard of for a slip spline is 10" of useable spline. I am gong to have to see pics of a driveshaft with 24" of travel. I bet it vibes like hell
