Fsj Super Swamper Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 What kind of gearing would have come stock in a 1986 MJ Comanche 4wd, with a 2.5 motor, Automatic transmission, Dana 30 front & Dana 35 rear?
comancheman Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 i believe that was one of the few that came with the 4.56 ratio

If you have the truck, you should be able to check the Tag on the Pumpkin if it hasn't been messed with or rusted off...

Pete M Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Could be 3.55 or 4.10. As far as I can tell, 4.56 wasn't an option in 86. Jack up one of the rear tires and put the truck in neutral. Spin the free tire around twice and carefully count the revolutions of the driveshaft. If it goes around three and a half times, it's 3.55. If it goes around just a bit more the four times, it's 4.10. If it's something else, let us know. :D
chicofuentes0224 Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Oh good, so it's either 3.55, 3.73, 4.10, or 4.56 :rotfl2:

mvusse Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Oh good, so it's either 3.55, 3.73, 4.10, or 4.56 :rotfl2: Well, at least people agree it would NOT be 3.07
Fsj Super Swamper Posted June 25, 2008 Author Posted June 25, 2008 i pulled the diff cover & its got 4.11 gears
