  1. Hi, Guys, I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years. I am going to assume that everyone was busy and didn't have time to help with this issue. I still need help, and I'm hoping that someone has an answer. My truck is my daily driver, and I need it to be dependable, so I really need this fixed. Someone must have a solution to this. Please help. Thanks, Tom
  2. Hi, It might help to realize the fact that ALL major lift kit companies get their springs from a spring manufacturer. I don't think that any of them own their own spring factory. We used to, but lack of sales forced us to close down. Some of the exceptions are, of course, Alcan and General Spring, which are in fact spring manufacturers. It is also notable that almost all of the lift kit companies do not buy their springs in the United States, due to price, including Rusty's. I am not saying this to bash anybody, Rusty is a good guy, it's just the facts. On the add-a-leaf issue, no, XJ and MJ add-a-leaves are not the same -- or shouldn't be. MJ add-a-leaves should be longer and have more arch, as ggcnash pointed out. Also, I am not in favor of making sales pitches on the forums. If you have sales-related questions, my e-mail is tlaher@hellcreeksuspensions.com. Thanks, Tom
  3. Hi, Nice to know that mine isn't the only one with a hard starting problem. Does anyone have any solutions? Like I said, it runs fine after it starts, it's just very hard to start -- sometimes. Thanks, Tom
  4. Hi, Guys, Just to set the record straight, we did shut down our spring factory in December of 2012 (before the end of the world) due to lack of sufficient sales to keep the factory running. At that time we began a quest to find an American spring manufacturer that would make our springs according to our blue prints, which we designed. In fact, I bought my 1989 Comanche for the express purpose of designing and testing the rear springs. It took about 5 months before we found an American manufacturer that we were happy with. So, no, we do not make our own springs anymore, but yes, they are still made in America, which is why they cost more than foreign made springs. By the way, Linale Manufacturing is in Omaha, Nebraska, not Ohio, just for clarification. And thank you, Motorcharge, for buying our kit. It really is appreciated. Thanks, Tom
  5. I have nearly the same problem. It is very hard to start - sometimes - when the engine is cold. Sometimes it starts right up and always starts good when it is warm. After it starts it runs great and has plenty of power for a 2.5L, so it is probably not a CPS or TPS. Also, because it runs good, it is probably not a ground issue. What would be the most likely culprit in this case. Most of the threads on the forum deal with the Renix 4.0, but mine is a 1989 2.5L. Thanks, Tom
  6. Hi, Eagle, Thanks for the offer, but my doors are getting nicked on the lower edge, so these won't help me. I do need the longer ones. Does anyone have a set of these they would be willing to sell? Thanks, Tom
  7. Thanks, Eagle. How much do i owe you for the shipping? Tom
  8. Thanks, Don, but I have already looked on ebay. Thanks, Eagle. If you happen to come across a set, please let me know. My e-mail address is tlaher@hellcreeksuspensions.com .
  9. I like the ones that cover the whole edge, like the ones you have pictured.
  10. Hi, Gary, Do you want to sell them?
  11. I did a search for this topic and couldn't find anything, so here goes; is there any such thing as custom fit door edge guards for our trucks? It would be the same as for an XJ Cherokee door, but I can't seem to find anything except the plastic u-channel on a roll generic type. Thanks, Tom
  12. Yeah, I took mine out when I restored my MJ. It's not easy.
  13. I have a 1989 Comanche with a blue interior and a cracked dash pad. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement? It should be the same as a Cherokee dash pad, but I cannot find anything using a Google search. Thanks, Tom
  14. Hi, Pete, Always up for a discount. PM on its way. Tom
  15. Hi, Don, Thanks for moving this. I really wasn't sure if it belonged here. Thanks, everyone else. Tom
  16. I'm not sure if this is where I should post this, but I wanted to let you all know that Hell Creek Suspensions is back in business. After we closed our spring factory last November, we began a search to find another American spring manufacturer who would make springs for us according to our blue prints. Well, we have found one, and their prices are in line with ours, so that we will not have to change our prices to you. Also, we will still be able to offer the 10% Comanche Club discount. Springs and complete kits can be ordered directly from our website or you can place your orders over the phone at (662) 538-5676. Please do not clog up the private e-mail function of this site. If you have any questions you want answered by e-mail, my address is tlaher@hellcreeksuspensions.com. I check it on a regular basis. Thanks, Tom
  17. Full size Jeep pick ups, Wagoneers and Cherokees have the same size main leaves. The complete rear springs will also work as well. They are just built for the heavier vehicles. The years that will fit are 1976-91. Although some people believe that the 3/4 to 1 ton Chevy springs will fit, they are 1 inch shorter on the shackle end and will cause the shackles to lean inward toward the axle and probably flip at full droop. Thanks, Tom
  18. Hi, Guys, 89JeepMJ is correct. We are shutting down our leaf spring factory permanently as of the end of this month. Just not enough business to keep it going. It seems that most people would rather have cheaper foreign springs than American ones. That coupled with this poor economy and the almost certainty of a continued recession leaves us with no other choice. We still intend to sell Rough Country products, so our website will remain open, but the Hell Creek springs will be a thing of the past. Unfortunately, this means that there will be no more warranty on Hell Creek products, since it was a replacement warranty, and there will be no Hell Creek springs to replace them. Thanks, Tom
  19. According to my limited mechanical knowledge, en engine backfires when an intake valve is open at the same time the spark plug is firing. I would look at either the valve timing or the ignition timing -- or both. Or, if you changed the plug wires, check the firing order. -Tom
  20. Stock springs have either 3 leaves + the 2nd stage overload, 4 leaves + the 2nd stage overload, or MT springs had 3 leaves + two 2nd stage overloads. There are no overloads on these springs, plus they have 6 leaves, which says "aftermarket. I don't know who made them, but I do know that they are not ours. Hope this helps, Tom
  21. I just measured the ones on my truck, and they look like they are 1-1/2" OD. The O.A.L and the I.D. are the same as the 1-3/4" spring bushing. That would make the shackle bushing the same as the ones on a Chevy. If you are going with poly or even a new RB bushing (OEM), you will need to get all of the old bushing out, including the steel outer sleeve. -Tom
  22. Hi, Chinotj, I agree - nice looking truck. The anchor bushing (the larger one) is 2-1/2" O.D. x 3-1/8" O.A.L. x 9/16" bolt size. The shackle bushing is 1-3/4" O.D x 2-3/4" O.A.L. x 9/16" bolt size. Hope this helps. -Tom
  23. I am going on the assumption that you mean "spring perches" or "axle saddles". (See mkbruin's first link.) These would only come with a spring over axle conversion for our trucks. Also, don't be hesitant in asking questions of lift kit companies. That's our business, and that's why we're here. -Tom
  24. A J-series truck could have had a 5+1 leaf pack, but most of the J-trucks that had the 2nd stage overloads had either 6+1 packs or 5+3 packs. Some J-trucks and Wagoneers had 4+1 leaf packs. -Tom
  25. Hi, Herc, Unless I am sadly mistaken, those are not factory MJ springs, or, if they are, someone has added one or two leaves to the spring pack. MJs did not come with 5+1 spring packs from the factory. From the appearance of the springs, it looks like a #2 and a #4 leaf have been added, and not recently. Also, the factory center bolt location of a MJ spring would be 26 inches from the center of the large eye to the center of the bolt, and 31 inches from the center of the center bolt to the center of the eye bushing at the shackle end. -Tom
