Different driveshaft sizes?
bhorocks replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i noticed the same thing.. -
well, i used the same one i had with no work done on it. no vibrations. That is totally up to you. you could add a slip yoke elimintor for $250 then get your driveshaft modified for more money. that is another option. i would prolly SPOA it and see how it handles first then decide if you need to get dshaft work done
-
yeah i am not sure why they would not bolt right up. both passenger and driver side had same issue. I elongated the hole and got them on though. had all the bolts lose and cleaned most everything. also took the time to rebuild the lower control arms i got used. replaced the super flex bushings. seems to have helped out alot. still not getting much caster on it though. might cut 1" off my adjustable upper arms to thread them down some more.
-
They are rubicon express. I drilled the slot longer and they bolted up fine. All done now. Rides great and so far no wobble. Will see after I get on the freeway
-
both sides going to have to drill some Image Not Found
-
tried it.. also tried swap sieds for the heck of. they just ain't right. that isa life i'll take a pic real quik
-
yeah i did that but the actual bracket with the elongated hole is to high. i may have to ream it down some. don't know why it is off by almost half inch to high
-
so got my drop brackets and i am mounting them and the bracket for the upper mount the holes don't line up right. did you have to do some additional drilling on the bracket?
-
well you are all killing me here.... seriously... fine, TNT long arm kit it is.. but for the next two month Drop Brackets. can get them new 250 out the door so screw it. I already have all the arms I'm 3/4 of the way to the TNT kit but i'll get the DBs and 1 ton jcr steering today then save for the TNT kit. man, 3 pages of do's and don't's. make it tough. so the debate is tnt or stay DBs now. shall we start over?? new thread??
-
that does look like a sweet kit.. a grand is out of the budget though for sure.
-
i do agree about long arms being all the hype. that is why i take in consideration the pro's and con's of each. I have talked with some others on NAXJA that have the 3 link and have no issues with it and hearing from you about the guys you know that did certainly is helpful. I think both systems have their drawbacks though. I'll probably give the long arms a shot. obviously i can't go back from that decision but i can always go leafs afterwards!! and trackbar is taken care of. the steering is next on the list to be replaced. Probably ordering the JCR 1 ton setup because motion offroad is 4-6 weeks out on them.
-
i have the super flex fixed lowers. i can get a measurement tomorrow. tomorrow night i am hittin up supercros though!
-
caster.. can't get any more out of it without adjustable lowers or going with drop brackets. most i could get is 1 degree positive. looking into it i think i should just get the long arm kit. i am sure once i do i won't regret it. have to spend money either way. make some calls tommorow and see what absolute offroad or desert fab will do for me. thanks everyone for their input. lots of pro's and con's of each system.
-
yeah, i certainly want long arm but there are so many variables in that. Mostly Long arms are all the craze right now and i don't want to be drawn into the hype when short arms have been around so long and have been reliable. like longshot said knowing two peeps have torn their long arm up. that is not good.. also the not being able to add braces that is not good for the DB. being realistic my truck will see 90% road driving as it will be a daily driver I really want to make the right choice here and i can swing either way financially. I thought 3rd gen was a bolt on deal with the RK setup but perhaps not! my biggest thing is getting the right setup for my needs. I appreciate everyones input and it looks like a pretty close 50/50 debate. tough choice man.
-
you could easily get 4.5 with a spoa in the rear and some ford f150 coils up front with a 1 inch spacer. lots of people say the ford coils are rough but i liked them fine enough. and they were cheap!!
-
that is certainly a case to not go that route. it will indeed have more street use than trail. I daily drive it. not far, but it is still my daily driver. that is necesarily going to keep me from going to LA but very valid concern to look into i was also wondering about the long term durability on drop brackets without frame braces. and as far as the low clearance of drop brackets that does not worry me at all. i will prolly go to 35's soon anyways
-
3rd gen is direct bolt on right?
-
scweet! I like!
-
well motionoffroad 560 plus shipping. 525 total is a heck of a deal. YEAH BOIEE!!!!!
-
ok, send me a number to call for that price! i will order it tomorrow! ok,, i'll log in and have him PM me.
-
out with the bad! in with the good!!!! one quote for a very resonable price!
-
i just pm a guy for a RK 3 link qoute. it comes in under 600 to my door i may do it. sell my adjustable uppers and fixed lowers for 200. the uppers are Re brand new.
-
see, that is my dilemma.. spend more money on drop brackets and lower adjustable control arms or just spend the 500 is on a upgrade package. i could sell my control arms for 200 and afford the whole upgrade kit prolly.
-
right on thx. i will look at his build thread. my dilemma is spend the money on drop brackets and lower control arms or get long arm upgrade kit.
-
For everyone using them how have they held up? i thought i have read on the forums here that you cannot use the brace. unfortunately the search feature brings up soooo much info with nothing titled drop brackets..
