  1. It for some reason doesnt look good on that truck. But I think when my truck get's its flat or gloss black coating when it's all ready, I might get one for it.
  2. I had the exact same setup, and it looked to be in place for the better part of 10+yrs. Being that nothing was broken/bent/tweaked, I'd say its safe to use this setup with little worries. Then again, my truck was a 2wd, and probably didn't see much offroad. Point being, I'm sure it's seen a few pretty nasty pot holes, so it should be a fairly rugged system.
  3. Must be nice to be able to bribe people like that... ;) :D
  4. I wonder the same thing. Mine were also uncut, and I don't recall any cracks on them. Let me tell ya though, a sawzall made quick work of rusted ubolts... :D
  5. short answer: yes. Long answer: Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees.
  6. Mine were that way as well from the original SOA. I most likely won't be using those brackets again though, and they are in pretty decent shape.
  7. I wish they'd have just used some egyptian style military wranglers instead of that abortion of a vehicle they use now...
  8. Well, the GPW was another one. I actually forgot about that one, but a variant of it had independent suspension front and rear, IIRC. The Jeepster Was just IFS, still had a solid rear AMC20? I don't know the specifics on older jeeps, but key features stand out like a sore thumb, and a Jeep with IFS, or IRS just will never live up to the Jeep name, IMHO. Get me one of those new Patriots, I'll make it a real Jeep :D Those damn Compiss's are just a lost cause. Whoever designed it needs a real big kick in the uprights.
  9. Wrong. Back in the 60s or 70s, they made 1 or 2 models with IFS, so it's not a first for Jeep, but rather a rareity. The old IFS Jeeps still had 4wd, I believe one was the Jeepster.
  10. WTF didn't I put it simpler like you???
  11. How about a hybrid HP609 rear with a HP460 front??? :brows:
  12. Um, I really don't think you know what your talking about. Leafs aren't bad, horrible or anything in my book, but a properly designed Y link, 1 link, 3 link, 4 link or any other coil sprung type suspension will kick the nuts of leafs capabilities any day of the week, and twice on Saturday nights when your more drunk than the crazy guy at the local watering hole. A coil sprung suspension that is correctly designed will far outlast the leafs in terms of off road capabilities. The only area where leafs will outperform a coil sprung suspension is in the weight carrying and towing category. Read into it, you will find that leafs become your limits, and the tires 9 times out of 10 will come off the ground sooner with leafs. Leafs also crack under too much stress. I mean, if you want some stiff leafs, go right ahead, but your going to find your limits extremely quick. Your best using the stock MJ leafs, and going spring over. I personally like RE's perches, roughly 2" longer than the mopar ones, allowing for less axlewrap.
  13. Agreed. Your saving on average probably $650. Thats a steal of a price, so you had better find that $900 in thin air. You could have yourself one of only a handful of One Ton MJ's. I'm sure I can get a hold of a D70/80 for you, if you'd like... Besides, $800 falls out of thin air all the time, so offer him that, if he's willing to go that low! do it. Do It! DO IT!!!
  14. Wow... Ahh... Damn... I quoted you... :D
  15. Bumpers, and most underhood parts swap with no effort at all, front clips aren't all that different, I've seen a few TYJ's floating around, mostly on pirate, but you can make a yj look like a tj and a tj like a yj with little effort. Almost like making an MJ look like a 99 XJ. YJ is still fairly simple wiring and ECU, TJ became much more for the electrically inclined, and gained OBDII, and about 40 extra sensors and safety features.
  16. I dig it. :D Looks good. Wish my projects could move at the rate of yours!
  17. Well, first of all, I don't know how this thread got this far out of proportion. If you go back to the first page, you'll see that I realized I was reading the list wrong. Beyond that, I had bad luck with UPS (took a while to deliver as it went all around the country) like once in the past. I thought I was seeing it like it was happening again, but I was just reading backwards, so this time, It was my fault. I then posted "My Bad" and took back what I said, although, I wonder to this day why the first time it happened like that.
  18. John, read this, and adapt it. 13 Step Method For Buying A Car While Controlling The Sale And The Price Adapt it as needed, but use the base Idea, get that baby for 2g's total! (or preferably less)
  19. Get off your high horse. :D Yea, at least get the spelling correct.
  20. We have that exact same model in my sister's YJ. I don't recall ever having a problem with it, and I don't think my sister has either.
  21. Pretty clean if I do say so myself...
  22. I might tomorrow during my boring time at the jobsite... I have about another 1.5hrs tops of my 40hr training to go, and the rest of the time is free time. :D Things are looking up in the world!
  23. I don't smoke, but I was definitely picturing myself in it... :D
