  1. it's also snowing like mad. IDK if my pickup guy will be willing to go get it in 12+" of snow
  2. it's friday.
  3. it's the track for the hood's integrated prop rod. ha, no that's just on willy's...
  4. smithe, i have a 2.8 carb sitting in my barn...it would need gone through (maybe???) but you can have it for $5 for my time packaging, plus shipping. -Pat
  5. I run WiX filters and parts master 10W30 oil. I will not run anything else.
  6. LMAO the rich @$$hats behind us HATE it. but...we do anything we can to make issue with them, since they never did support us in the whole ban walmart from moving in across the street thing (3 more votes from the neighborhood would've banned them from using that property....) but no, we're their buffer zone and they like to shop. blah. anyways, our property is generally pretty clean. much more so now that dad's ditching his snowmobile stuff :D
  7. renix F.I carbeurated ended in 1985. 1986 became FI
  8. what badges? :P and there's more than 70,000 of them made. someone posted "supposed" production numbers on 4wd models only, and those alone exceeded 70,000. I'd say double that number to encompass all comanches produced. but yes, people stare. now, imagine you're in an old POS MJ, just gettin out of it at the parts store to see a few guys walk up and go "is that a diesel?". man the old smoker sure gets attention...:D
  9. gave the switch to TNT. i have no use for the factory switch...my switch positions are all different anyways. goes (left to right) rear fog, rear cargo, to other side of steering wheel it goes center fogs, then outer fogs soon it'll be 3 switches on each side...adding one in between each set of switches, one of them will be for the on board air, the other will be for my rollbar lights. i spray cherokee switch brackets black so i don't have to deal with the wrong indicators, or having one indactor and one without...:D
  10. probably me...i'll have more time after next week. already have yours joe, and wades and correy's.
  11. ...it's even better right now, but i still haven't shelled out the $$$ for the pressure switch or unloader valve. i'm gonna try and use an old pressure switch i got layin here before i head up to your place this week... -Pat
  12. you MUST get a cluster that's within 1 year + or - then. make sure it's got a trip meter just in case, and then your speedo bolts right in. matter of fact, let me check my clusters...i may have a cluster minus the voltmeter or something, but has the tach.
  13. Yes Pete, as 99% of us know, there is a difference in the rooflines. I have reason to believe the one I have from Jeepco is off of an XJ, as it has a slight downward slope to it, as can be seen in the pics; whereas hornbrod's looks more straight out off of the roofline. haha. it's from an MJ...i pulled it off of one that was from the dealer with a visor ;)
  14. i hate to say it, but you could UPGRADE to a 2.5 4 cylinder (mine would handle 70mph with 4.10 gears). yes, a 2.5 is a better, stronger, and frankly though the numbers don't show it, more powerful motor, than the 2.8
  15. well, at this point people pretty much tell me where they are. i started out by doing what my parents do, LOOK when i'm driving. then, some people who had them had noticed others and redirected me to other ones... i know a bunch of junkyard owners (alot of them are family friends as well) and that gives me a good deal. i also actively search. it may seem like I have a radar for them...i'm starting to believe it too. i have another one coming my way next thursday or friday...89 2.5 4 speed 2wd shortbed, rusty but driving. i've gotten alot of 4 cylinders lately....
  16. nah. that's only for a dummy light cluster. he's got full gauges minus tach. it's plug and play, get one from a 88-90 renix.
  17. I REGULARLY ran 60mph with my ol' 2.8. BUT i never shifted into 5th gear, so she was running at 4,000 RPM constant. I accepted the fact that it's a sh*t motor with sh*t for gas mileage anyways, so i beat on it. I also accepted the fact that this would, eventually destroy it. I fully embraced that fact, for destruction of said weenie of a motor meant JUST ONE THING newmotornewmotornewmotornewmotornewmotor :brows: haha. sooo....i set out on an epic adventure to discover the joys of driving a vehicle with power beyond it's previous comprehension... haha. i'm  been at work so i'm :chillin: anyways. first thing, remove the factory carb. get a holley or something in there. talk to Twisty (I believe he's doing a 3.4 swap, but had modded his old 2.8 a bit), i think he's the best bet for more info on mods to the 2.8 to get power. i say send the jeep my way, along with a couple G's, and you'll get it back with a 3.8 camaro motor :D (or cheaper for a 3.4...)
  18. yep. antenna should be good on it...this is the one i've been talking about. also have a lower shift boot going to someone else on the club ;) what's the deal with this other MJ? you have it still or have a line on it? I'll come get it... -Pat
  19. lol. it's not inherently dangerous...i just personally avoid doing so. I also avoid grinding/cutting without safety glasses anymore...but hey, that's what happens when ya get a steel shaving through your eye (hit the iris, pupil couldn't dialate...and it started to rust   ) i was just saying safety wise. of course, i guess the engine could come apart while you're down there too so any way you go about it... anyways, back on topic, it should be fine. is your rear main leaking?
  20. question is, why the hell are you putting your face next to the bellhousing while it's running? big no-no dude. rotational force + face next to it could = lots of blood. anyways, that's just the seal surface where the rotation has kept the rust at bay. it should be there, and no the seal is a bit further in. unless of course, your engine is POURING out oil in which case that's where the rear main USED to be
  21. no point, it's only 25 bucks extra, and i've got that made already...so it has cost me nothing but time. basically, i don't lowball if i don't have to...there's always the chance they'll stop dealing with you after you lowball them. so i played along...got it down from $275 tho.
  22. :P. i been chasin this one down for a few months. oh, it did have a cargo light as well...that's in my garage at home :D
  23. for us wiscnonsinites, post up your deals :D just got (picking up on saturday) a 86 comanche 4x4 4 cylinder 4wd 5 speed. it's a parts rig but...for $225 and I've got that much in parts sold already... Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found the rest of the pics. gotta love these deals...see, more than $2.37 this time!
  24. yea. campground attached I believe. i'm camping in an MJ trailer :D
  25. :D hornbrod, i know this because i gave beaterjeep that one... :D
