No clock, Radio or Dome lights???
ComancheKid45 replied to ComancheKid45's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm a moron, I was in a helluva mood Monday and overlooked a simple blown 10amp fuse.....replaced and all came back to normal. sorry for wasting bandwidth  :peek: :D -
Alrighty, i seem to post up problems on this forum more than anything else  However were back to electrical issues on my 90 (4.0/AX15/4x4). On my drive home from work yesterday going from 1st to 2nd gear i bumped the fuse box with a foot, atleast something right in the area of the fuse box. right then i lost the radio, OEM clock and dome lights... I check the fuse box and the fuses, including swapping them out and still nothing. There is no fluid leaking from the mst. cyl and the fuse box is clean. This is the same truck that had the fuel pump issue a couple months back which i fixed with a new wire bypassing the old, I'm wondering if internal circuits in the ECM are beginning to die out for some reason and this was next in line... Ill swap ECMs with the 89 someday and see what happens....The truck still runs and drives just those options are vacant :dunno:

Got the left side finished up today with fresh MOOG ball joints. :wrench: Thatll do it for the front end work, for now  -
I want to wire up an electric fan in my 90 but don't wanna throw a tacky aftermerket switch inside. Id like to get an OEM dash switch, I believe it can be a Fog light switch, Rear Defrost, Trans, ect.... Toss me some offers. Shipped to 17257 Thanks!

Well my Ball Joints won't arrive till Monday but I went ahead and got as far as i could with the rest of the front upgrades. all the work went smoothly even removing the old ball joints. When i removed the lower castle nut and gave the knuckle a few taps to free it the ball joint acctually seperated  It was that close to just failing, so I'm happy I decided to get this done! I got the old U joints outta the 96+ shafts and prepared them for installation, this will ditch the CAD system and allow me to run the Spicer 760x U joints :D I got the right side all finished up and back together today, and with some Alloy USA exterior axle seals, upgrading the shafts did not require removal of any Diff. internals :clapping: Ill finish the drivers side up after i get my ball joints installed Monday then hopefully ill be ready for alittle more fun off road with a few less worries  -
Its a cheap alternative to an aftermarket track bar. Ive been driving on mine for 6-8 months and have installed them on a friends Jeep or 2. @ 3" it does the job of re centering very well and doesnt hurt the performance of the front end. Plus its easly removable and you can always throw an Adj. Track Bar at a later date. :wrench:

Ball Joint part numbers???
ComancheKid45 replied to ComancheKid45's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Alrighty thats what i purchased.... thanks! ;) -
Alrighty Ive come across a small mystery today... My 88 needs a new LF lower Ball joint and while searching the computer @ work I noticed the part numbers changed between the 89 and 90 model years. To my previous knowledge all D30s from 86-95 (99 xjs) were the same? If theyre is a difference what is it? It seems MOOG is the preferred Ball joint brand on this forum as well and I just wanna make sure i get the right part number before I order a set. Thanks as always guys! :wrench:

260 upgrade to 297 U Joints....?
ComancheKid45 replied to ComancheKid45's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Alright well i threw an add in the "wanted" section.....I blew apart another 1 yesterday so I think this might be more of a priority than i thought. :smart: Are TJ and XJ/MJ shafts the same? just outta curiosity... -
I'm tired of blowing apart 260x u joints and breaking front axle shafts so an upgrade is in order. I'm looking for a set (right and left) of 96+ shafts, I believe they can be out of XJs and TJs, Throw me any offers you may have, I plan on being on 31" tires for awhile yet so I don't need to spend the money for chromos and all and I see this this option probaby suits me best. Thanks!
