  1. well pilot bearing and slave are out! When I removed the slave this rubber seal came with it... please tell me this isn't the transmission input shaft seal? Phone double posted again. Sorry.

  3. I'm going to try using just one jaw and fitting something beside it to keep it in. Or I'm going to file down a small section of the inside of the pilot bearing so I can fit it in and use both. I would prefer to not grind down a loaner tool just because. I hate having to drive to town again to get another tool. I live 25 minutes from any parts store!
  4. Its a 2 jaw slide hammer adapter one. And the only reason its not working is cause its to big to fit it, I have it fully collapsed and it won't fit through the pilot hole. If the inner ring of the pilot bearing wasnt still there then it would work.
  5. I tried the bread method (same as grease. Thought it would work better cause bread is thicker) and I could NOT get that sucker out... I got a bolt that I thought was tight enough (literally could not find anything bigger that wasnt to big.) And the bread still forced itself out instead of the pilot bearing coming out.. I wish that the pilot bearing wasnt still intact. Then I could just use the puller I rented.
  6. I like that idea. Allows me to do it by myself as well. Would it be bad to leave the new flywheel mounted underneath the truck during bad weather? Got a storm coming but was going to try and get some work done on it later.
  7. Mods if you could please delete all of those replies above other than the first one, I would appreciate it. My phone messed up and posted multiple times and then I replied with a shorter version because at first it said it couldnt post the first version. Thanks
  8. And when breaking the flywheel bolts and retightening them I was going to have someone with a wrench on the crankshaft bolt in the front of the engine to keep it from spinning. WhTs the chances of this breaking the crankshaft bolt loose instead of the flywheel bolts?
  9. The inside ring of the pilot bearing is still intact. But the bearings inside the ring have all fell out. What is actually behind the pilot bearing? Because I tried to break the middle part loose and the little bearings flew everywhere. Some fell behind the pilot bearing. Just hope they won't mess up the engine, ya know?
  10. Bought a brand new flywheel because I figured mine was burnt. And I was on my way to get the puller when you posted that... but then i get it home and it doesnt even fit in the pilot bearing. Anyone know why?
  11. My makeshift jack worked FLAWLESSLY. Seriously! Got the tranny sitting under the truck still on the jack. Currently working on the flywheel and will be getting a pilot bearing puller in a little while. Probably going to have to install the clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate in a different day. But uh... check out how burnt this thing was. It looks bad, to me, what do you guys think? The springs rattle and have bare metal spots too! Also whats up with all this oil residue inside the bellhousing? Could that be from my rear main seal?
  12. well I managed to "get" a transmission jack :D found a bigger floor jack and made a wood plate to keep the tranny sturdier. I promise its more thought out than it looks. Theres another plate of wood on the bottom with a large hole drilled out for the "cup" to fit into so its sturdier. Also about to make notches for a ratchet strap to wrap into so I can also strap the tranny to the jack. Got a sheet of plywood layed down to easily roll on. Now just waiting for the brother in law to get home so we can pull the sucker out!
  13. I'm working on finding a good floor jack. I also don't have one of them... really need one but have no where to put it! I think I will be removing the Tcase since its just 6 bolts and will make things safer.
  14. I wish I was closer to there! i'd buy it in a second! Looks like the clutch change is gonna be rougher than I expected. My buddy didnt have a tranny jack like he thought he did.
  15. I'm going factory, this time. Just gotta find a chance to get to the parts store... working full time nightshift now so I get out of the house when all the parts stores are closed lol. When I get an AX-15 Redline will go in it. Engine oil just sounds way to lightweight for a manual transmission... The clutch and flywheel came in the mail yesterday, though. Hoping I can borrow a buddies transmission jack Friday when I come in from work and get the sucker swapped out!
  16. But if anyone can chime in on whether or not the Pennzoil Synchromesh is better or not then I would love to hear it. Simply because it and the gear oil are the same price.
  17. Thats what I remembered seeing awhile ago but with how many opinions there are on forums you never know lol. Just wanting to make sure I get the right stuff in the Peugeot so it stays alive long enough for me to find an AX-15.
  18. Great! And now another question on manual tranny oil... I've heard mixed reviews about everything. Some say use sychromesh, others say it destroys the tranny. Some say use 75w-90 GL-5 in the BA10/5 because it doesnt have brass synchros, others say don't. Then people are saying use either 10w30 or 10w40! I thought the engine oil was for the AX-15? Ive seen people saying the opposite! Ive gotta get the best oil for it soon because my clutch will hopefully be going in within a couple weeks. What does everyone recommend?
  19. or even better than bolts, replace them with studs. install them into the engine after the trans is removed and then they help as guides for reinstalling the trans. :D might be dumb for asking this but where can I get studs and how do I install them? I like the idea of having guides for the tranny... and I pulled the mini console, so i'm about to pull the tranny shifter. From what I've read I just put it in neutral, unbolt the 3 bolts on this bronze looking circle, and then press down and turn counter clockwise?
  20. I will probably be silly when I get the axles and transmission under this thing that I plan to keep under it lol. But for the transmission can any gear oil be used as long as its the right weight? I was just going to grab one of the 5 quart jugs they sell of it at Autozone or something... or is that a bad idea? I mean I want the transmission to last a little bit, but I don't want to break the bank. That pennzoil stuff is like 10$ a quart from what I've seen.

  22. I'm not swapping an AX-15 in YET. Can't wait to though. What type of fluid does the tranny take? And just any ol automatic tranny fluid works for the Tcase?
  23. Already pulled the driveshafts, tailpipe, and T-case skid. When i pulled the rear driveshaft the tcase start dribbling fluid and I'm sure it will dribble more when I start jacking the truck up. What type of fluid should I grab to just top off the Tcase when I get done with the clutch? Planned to change the fluid in it and the tranny soon, anyways. Would now be a good time? And I'm guessing it would be a good idea to grease all of these driveshaft grease fittings while I've got them easily accessible? Thanks!
  24. I would think that the tire being taller would also factor in on possible rubbing of the LCA's? But thats just me, I'm still on 30's so I can't say much lol.
  25. Well with further research I found that the AX-15 and AW4 use the same mount. The BA10/5, though, uses a completely different mount which costs about 100$. That, is not in my budget right now lol. Anyone ever made an AX-15 mount work?
