  1. My fear is because I was working on my moms FWD Sentra and I forgot that it didn't have the engine keeping the rear tires held with the shifter in "park" so I was jacking it up and right as I went to put a stand under it the tires rolled and about got my arm. Needless to say, I double check EVERY thing now. But back on topic, no one know if the tranny mounts are all the same? Rockauto has the same ones in both the manual and auto transmission sections, so I'm pretty sure they are. Just wanted to double check!
  2. I have the EXACT same fear. Which is why I will probably not only have 2 jackstands under each axle but will also stack wood up so if by some crazy farfetched chance the jackstands fail, the wood will catch it. But I will still have the tires on... so at least the entire truck wouldn't fall straight to the ground.
  3. I'm figuring once I get started on it it will just flow steady and won't be nearly as bad as I'm expecting. Are the transmission mounts the same for all transmissions on the MJ? Going to go ahead and change it while I have the crossmember off the transmission.
  4. I was only worried about the jackstands getting in the way if I put them under the framerails. Should have specified lol. But thanks, that was exactly what I needed to know!
  5. I understand that now, then. Upon adding the first coat of PB blaster to all the bolts, I have gotten a few more questions. 1, only the axle side of my driveshafts have the four bolts on them to disconnect them. Do they just slide out of the transfer case? And 2, should I put the jackstands underneath the frame rails or the axles to get the truck up some? The obvious choice is the frame rails, I know. But with jackstands under it I fear how little wiggle room I'm going to have under there lol. And lastly how do the transmission and transfer case breather lines connect? Do I just pull them off and then slip them back on when I'm done?
  6. I'll take your word for it, then. Saves me 20-30$. I've hears mixed opinions of whether or not to change the bolts but I will check them when I remove it just to be sure. The only reason I went ahead and ordered the flywheel is because while I've got the tranny out I figured I would just go ahead and change it.
  7. Added brake cleaner to the list! Why should I drench them, though? And are these bolts the right flywheel bolt size? I was comparing them to the ARP and the ArP said the length was .890" while these say they're 1". I read somewhere they work but I'm not 100% sure on it. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&ei=AJuCVee9KYP2-QGe9IzIBg&url=http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/MRG0/914.oap%3Fyear%3D1991%26make%3DPontiac%26model%3DFirebird%26vi%3D1251762%26pt%3D2272P%26ppt%3DC0362&ved=0CDEQFjAA&usg=AFQjCNFSc-nD3poAaUzUs9QbPPlVhd2Rlg
  8. Now I really cannot wait to get into trade school for welding. Next time a welder comes up for that cheap though I'm going to get it either way. Practice never hurts.
  9. No. You can use it to tack it in the correct position, then have welded by a 220V welder for proper penetration.I'll have to say it is enough welder, as long as you know how to use it. I welder my perches on with a 110v fluxcore welder almost a decade ago, haven't had a single problem. And with a manual trans and a stroker motor running 35's, they take a lot of abuse. thats good to know. Is that all you've used to weld on your truck? If I remember your build correctly I've seen some nice fabrication.Yep, I used a flux core Lincoln 140 for everything. It's been beat on pretty good and nothing has failed yet. thats very good to know!
  10. Oh and lastly whats the chances of my exhaust manifold bolts snapping when I'm trying to remove them during this? Going to spray everything down with PB blaster but them bolts seem rusty lol.
  11. Just ordered 175$ worth of parts from Partsgeek! Flywheel and clutch kit is on the way. The clutch change has officially become real! And I came to a realization when I walked out the door today... My next door neighbor has a massive concrete floored and enclosed garage and I do the guy favors quite often. He might let me use it for a weekend! Lets hope so!
  12. From searching more MR gasket #914 works and is about half the price of the ARP. What about pressure plate bolts? Can they be replaced by regular hardware store bolts?
  13. http://m.advanceautoparts.com/mt/shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/dorman-help-flywheel-bolts-7-16-20-x-.900-in.-22.86mm-14052/22142711-P?searchTerm=flywheel+bolt I read somewhere that these worked?
  14. Son of a gun freaking $30 for bolts? Wow
  15. Where do I get flywheel bolts and how much do they cost? I'm thinking about buying a new CPS and doing the CPS advancement since I'll have the transmission out and it will be easy to remove.
  16. Thinking about going ahead and buying a Luk flywheel just in case mine is shot and going ahead and swapping it in. How hard is it to change the flywheel? Any tips behind it? I've researched and heard that Sachs and Luk are the two best brands to replace our clutches with. I've decided Luk because I have a Luk clutch MC and I like having matching brands lol. Found the clutch and flywheel on Partsgeek for 170$ shipped to my door. Hoping that the flywheel isn't rough to swap!
  17. Best deal out there. literally the best deal. Wish I had went with them in the first place when an injector of mine started leaking. You won't regret purchasing them.
  18. Thats what I heard! It just seems TO cheap to me, though lol.
  19. exactly! Even me, with crappy junkyards, can get a set of 3.55 geared axles from a Cherokee for around $250-300.
  20. the top one for like 98$ is the one I'm thinking of getting. Because its the only Luk one for the BA10/5 and I read up on the progold one and its not the best for daily driving. Everyone said they're great for towing Jeeps but otherwise no better than the normal Luk. What do ya'll think?
  21. Just another reason a stickshift is better lol
  22. Beast in the good or bad way? The way you were talking about 3.55's and 32's it seems good. And I'm only doing 31's, maybe 32's eventually.
  23. I never drove his fast enough to need 4.10's on the interstate. Ill probably end up getting 3.55's in mine simply because they're easier to find lol
  24. Forget I said the pictures didnt appear, they appeared in my quote and thats good enough! Very creative though :D
  25. the photo's didn't appear? But I appreciate all the replies! I'm going to search and see if a buddy has a transmission jack. How much is a resurfacing and how can I tell if I need one? I watched a 30 minute YJ clutch change video and he didn't have to take his out at all. And the most important question... whats the best clutch to get? I've been looking at the Luk pro Gold performance clutch. It"s supposedly heavy duty but I keep hearing that I shouldn't get a heavy duty clutch for a daily driver. Opinions?
