  1. :dunno: My hands on experience with our YJ says different. I have had it apart 3 times now and every time new bearings were installed. The pattern was never the same...even trying to use the same shims so new/different shims had to be used and a complete new set up process followed. It was the same situation with with two other D30's that I have been personally involved with as well. I have heard of people getting lucky and being able to put the same shims back in, but that is NOT the norm and should not be expected. If you do that, you are much more likely to have a disasterous outcome than a good one.
  2. I would rate it an 8-9. You need to know how to set up gears to do this job as the set up will be completely different with the new bearings and the pattern will have to be re-set. It is not as simple as taking out the carrier, pressing off/on new bearings and putting it back in.
  3. If you can turn the right side via the pinion, it's likely that the wheel bearing is siezed up. I would try to pull the shaft out and see what's up. Hopefully it's not frozen to the shaft.
  4. It appears that the question has been handled... :D  Sorry I couldn't get to it. I am glad there is such a wealth of knowledge and helpful people here. There is no competition between Tracy (mjdoa) & I so please feel free to inquire with him as well as me. I am always more than happy to help, but some days (like today) I can't get on here a lot while at work.
  5. My W123, W126, and W210 Benz always worked best with glow plugs. I didn't say that...I have never owned a Benz... It should be
  6. :beerhead: No problem... From what I understand, the Vector is created from a high quality graphic like an .EPS and can then be edited maintaining it's high quality. If it is multi-colored, the colors can be broken apart in layers and edited individually and then reassembled. Man...I have to learn how to do this stuff on my own...
  7. I don't have the ability, but from our work with t-shirts & hats I recall it being either an .EPS file or a Vector file that is needed to do what you want.
  8. Be sure and take the part # with you if you need to go so they don't have to "deal" with it  . Don't let them tell you they can't get it either as there are still 158 of them in the National warehouse ;) OH...I probably shouldn't have, but I have been ASSuming in all of this that you have a 4.0L in yours... :chillin:
  9. Champions do NOT work in anything but Chrysler/Jeep engines & lawn mowers ;) Bosch is a good plug that I prefer myself
  10. Obviously I can't tell you to replace it from here, but if you feel that you want/need to...the part # is 33002298 if you want to check a dealership near you or I can get you one for $65 shipped  EGR Solenoid Test per the FSM 1) Verify that vacuum is present at vacuum fitting "C" of EGR solenoid. See Fig. 4. Remove vacuum connector from "A" and "B". Connect a vacuum gauge to "B". 2) Start and idle engine. There should be no vacuum at "B". Disconnect electrical connector "D" from solenoid. There should now be vacuum at "B".
  11. Champoins are the best choice for the older Jeeps, but most of the '99 & up 4.0L engines came factory with NGK plugs...
  12. I would be suspicious of the EGR solenoid. At idle there should be no vacuum going through that solenoid, but it sounds like it may staying open and activating the EGR valve at idle which will cause low idle or stalling. The EGR solenoid should only open at RPM's over 1500 according to the FSM.
  13. X2 The proper t-stat for the engine will be 195 and come with a hole in it that goes at the 12:00 position with a little check ball in a copper sleeve to allow flow only in one direction.
  14. The picture is not clear enough to see a crack, but that is quite incredible anyway  . So it shorted from the electrode through the crack and burned all the way down the side... Seems quite fortunate that it didn't weld to the head.
  15. All I can say is...you have been lucky so far. I would not want to ride in a vehicle with spacers on it as I have seen what happens when they break or come loose. I hope your good fortune continues ;) .
  16. I posted this in the DIY forum here last week ;) http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12260
  17. Looks to me like someone put the wrong plug in it, the piston hit it...closed it up on the electrode and caused it to short and burn up. If it is the correct plug, then it was intalled without checking the gap and it was closed when installed...shorted and burned.
  18. Wheel spacers are dangerous and ill advised...especially one inch  . When I was in the afermarket business, the place I worked at (4 Wheel Parts) would not even touch a vehicle if it came in with wheel spacers of any kind on it because of the liability. Do the smart thing and save up for some new wheels.

    Chicks!

When our dog was alive, we had free raoming bantam (miniature) chickens in the back yard and she would protect them as if they were hers. We could say "check the chickens" and she would run out of the house and in to the back yard immediately.
  20. You didn't mention if you did the air bleeding thing or not. What you are describing sounds like air in the system which is why I posted my previous instructions above for you ;) . Yours is doing exactly what mine did until someone told me about this process and I did it. If you have done that and it is truly overheating then there are a few things it could be including head gasket, radiator, clogged catalytic converter, plugged hose going to the bottle etc, etc...
  21. I have also "heard" that Platinums are not good for the older Jeeps, but I have never heard of them falling apart either...just running issues. That being said...I run the Bosch Platinum +4 plugs in our '95 YJ and in my '02 Ram 1500 4.7L with no issues. Bosch Platinums are the Chrysler/Jeep recommended performance plugs for the later model vehicles.
  22. You may get the jump, but I don't think you would last in the 1/4 mile. The Jeep is build for torque and the Camaro will have a better top end. OH...BTW... Welcome to the Club  :D
  23. That should be better...Monday Night Football usually has my attention anyway ;)
  24. Where do you buy it? The link you have posted is just an info page.
  25. Yaba Daba Doo ... Good for you!!! Funny how sounds can radiate and seem that they are coming from somewhere completely opposite of where they really are in a vehicle.
