About $2 per liter!! (how much would that be i gallons?) Somethimes i wish i lived in :USAflag: .........

Deep in there between the 2 contacts is a little PITA screw, think you need a 1/4" socket to get it out (6mm was too small an 7mm too big, not so shure about those bolt-dimensions because i HATE everything nonmetric) I used the bitholder of an electric screwdriver mounted to a small ratchet to get it out

d@mn you have cheap cars!!! i had to pay 4100$ for my 86... if i found a MJ that clean over here i would without hestitating pay 8000$ for it, but probably it would be worth more... It really suxx being a car-addict here in norway

:hateputers: What happend to my pictures?? Pulled out everything i needed from the donor XJ this weekend. Some of you said it could be done in a couple of hours...me and my cousin used about 25-30 hours!!! But it was worth it, now i have a complete engine/tranny/transfer standing on a pallet, an extra front axle, a rear d35track-lock, all the wiring (i hope) 4brand new 30 * 9,5 studless winterrubbers on rims, every bolt and bracket needed to do the swap and a lot of other niiiiice stuff :D The remainings of the car i store temporary at my parents farm, nice to have it around if I'm missing something. Hehe i just loved the feeling when i smashed the john deeres forklifter into the sidewindow and liftet it down from the trailer! (yes i am a little bit destrucktive...think i must run over it a couple of times when I'm all finished with it) Question: what rearaxle should i use? the stock amc20 or the dana35 from the XJ?? I guess the I6auto needs different gearing than the 2.8man thats in it right now? and i would like to have the track-lock...don't know how good it works but it must be better than open diff?

Thanx a lot!!!! Some of you are just walking jeep-encyclopedias.
-
pingpong: sawzall was exactly what i was thinking :D everything is fubar in the front anyway...exept the bumper, NOT A SCRATCH! how did the PO manage that?? damn thats gotta hurt.. minydigger: i will try to tear out all wiring as well, and off course take pictures/notes off the connections.

I'm hoping to pull out everything needed to install the engine into my MJ + some other parts like wheels, axels, seats, bumpers, lights, etc and sell what i don't need myself. I'm just tearing down the XJ this weekend, think thats plenty work in so little time. Once i get everything into my own garage i have all the time in the world :D Yes i expect som driveshaft length, gearing and electronics issues, but deal with that later

Planning to slaughter my recently purchased XJ this weekend. Going to put engine and other stuff in my MJ. Thing is i must do this at my companys workshop (i only have a SMALL garage), meaning i can drive in the XJ after work friday and i MUST be finished and have the remanings on a trailer before monday morning, or else my boss or coworkers will be   Therefore i need to know if there is any big problems i may get into? Something thats not covered in the haynes manuall and two jeep-newbies-but-still-experienced mechanics can't figure out by themself? Hate having troubles when short on time!!!! XJ is 90 3door 4.0 auto.

Hehe seems like theres alot of opinions out there. I'm gonna use the auto simply because thats what i have, even if I'm a clutch/stick person. Just wantet to know if it sucked and it seems like it doesnt. Hope nones watching the first time i drive it because up to this date i have never driven an auto without trying to clutch... ramming the brake pedal at high speed thinking thats the clutch can be quite scary  takes a few secounds before i understand what the h**l is going on!!!

My top 5: Windir Wu Tang Clan Metallica Pink Floyd My Dying Bride darn...top 5 aint enough, there is many other bands i just have to mention: Mustasch, Satyricon, Dimmu Borgir, Gåte, Guns'n Roses, Slayer, Doors, Perished, Sepultura, Roxette, Madonna  , The Gathering think i have to stop there

Just picked up a XJ 4.0 and I'm going to put the engine and tranny in my MJ. But the XJ is auto and my MJ is manuall... And I'm no big fan of autos! I'm going to use the auto anyway, but what do you guys think? Whats best when it comes to offroad performance? My opinion is that autos steal power, accelerate slower, they may start to work poorly (manuals neither work or they don't work) and they shift when they want not when I want. On the other side its relaxing to worry about only 2 pedals and i must confess i have never driven an jeep with auto before.

i forgot the fun part, its a 90 4.0 auto :brows:

Bought my self a crash-okee today to pick parts from :D It has rolled and crashed quite heavy, but the engine has survived. It only need new radiator and fans. It started at the first try and i backed off the trailer without any problems  Guess who is looking forward to get that machine in is MJ???

Eeeeeehhhh..... don't THINK SO!!!! But i like it so much i don't care removing it. won't get a fine anyway if they stop me, just have to show them the car within 14 days without the lightbar or they take my licenseplate. Then i put it back on the car :D
-
While talking about it.. Is there any other models out there that used the ax5 or t-5 case, not necessarily a jeep? Need one my self but not many jeeps over here

Finally I got my own garage :D Had some time of from work during Xmas and off course i spend some of it working on my MJ. At the moment i suffer from lack of tools and equipment, so i didnt thet that much done..... It was a long days job just to clean out the garage! But i got the engine ready for removal and i removed both seats and generally took a closer look of the entire veicle. I will try to take some pictures and post theme here, please tell me if i do something absolutely wrong cause I'm a total novise about jeeps!! Taken just 5minutes after i bought it Trash from the garage, i didn dare to load it with more. not much clearance left around the 33"s... Still much left and the junkjard is closing in minuttes  Think i take the rest later.. :wrench: The uglyest engine ive ever owned! Niiiiiice.... 3xrotaing warning lights. 2xforward hi-beams. rear driving+brake lights and 2xworking/backing lights. Homemade fenders by PO. I want buswackers!!! My plans at the moment are: new engine, fenders, lift-kit (3"skyjacker are on its way..) a locker and maaaaybe if time and money agree, some paint and rustwork. But my plans may change every week  More pics to come, just have to get rid of this nasty fever :( Wish me luck with my project

I took my jeep for a spin in the dark this evening. Didnt find any nice tracks for 4wheelin so instead i made some real donuts on an abandoned parking lot in the forest Just love this car!! Anyway.. Been looking for a good 3.4L to throw under the hood, but they are pretty expensive and rare over here... 2000$ for a complete engine + customs + ca 1500km of driving (have to go to sweden) So i wonder, have anyone here tried this weber carb kit: http://www.racetep.com/jeepweb.html ?? I run a old scrapheap weber 32/36 from a 4cyl ford 2.0 at the moment and it gives me A LOT of top end power but little below 3000rpm. Actually it only chokes and misfire if i try to bottom the pedal at low rpm  Any toughts? Brand new carb that actually fits the engine (and hopefully give more power)and some minor engine repairs, or a used 3.4 that cost at least 4 times more, takes more time to install but gives me the benefits of injection and even more power?

Its formula offroad, not hillclimbing!! Look at this other video i found, i don't think i would try this with my comanche... http://www.4x4offroads.com/4x4-driving- ... video.html

Basicly every modification of the car needs to be approved and written in the registration papers. To do that you must be able to prov that the modification has been tested by some sort of agency, like TüV. Lift kits are usually simple but bigger tires are almost impossible. Fender cutting/welding are also easy as long as they cover the tires enough. Every second year each car must pass a mayor test to be road legal, so i realy want my lift kit approved. The tires i don't care about, it takes me 15 minuttes to put on my stock tires and switch back to 33"'s after the test... My car actuallu runs very well on 33" with stock suspension and some minor fender cutting/welding, but i jam the tires when i flex out. Is rubicon kits approved by TüV?
-
Does anyone know about a good suspension kit for my MJ?? I need space for my 33" (3"- 4" lift?) and the kit must have the right papers to keep the police of my back. Best if its approved by the german TüV. Its always a fight with the authorities to get modified cars road-legal over here
