Anoher day... another attempt. I gotta say that a little oil worked a bit better than the petroleum jelly, but I've still got a leak on #3. Perhaps this is time to take a look at swapping on another fuel rail? I took a long look at it while it was apart and everything looked fine. :hmm:
-
Question: does anyone know any special or magical wizard way of seating the fuel injector o-rings? I've been fighting this for the past couple weeks and am stuck scratching my head. From what I've tried, the leaks have been around injectors #1,3, and 4. Upon installing, #1 o-ring was damaged twice but has since stopped leaking on attempt number three. The other two are the ones that really have me puzzled as they have been the worst of the three. I took the fuel rail apart again today to find that #4 was damaged and barely leaking, and #3 was not damaged at all but was was very much leaking. I should note that everytime that I put the fuel rail back together, I use a little petroleum jelly on the o-rings with hopes of not tearing them. Rather than going through more o-rings, I'm hoping that some one can help me out. Thanks everyone!

A while back, dakal did a nice write up on a ridiculously easy linkage setup. He used simple hardware store parts, used the stock handle, and it's adjustable too. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=14975&p=152702&hilit -

Thanks again for the diagram! That mixed with the factory diagram for the locks made for some real easy wiring. I thought so too. The window regulators came out of a '95 XJ but I do notice that the passenger side is slightly slower. The left side looked much newer as if it had been replaced before the vehicle was sent out to pasture. When it came to the ease of installing and making up the cross-body harnes, I don't think there is any reason not to add power windows! -
I'm looking for a set of gray door panels for my Eliminator. I recently added power windows and locks and now I've got the eye-irritating hole for the old window crank staring at me. If you could help me out, that'd be great. Thanks everybody!

No... nothing exciting to report. The reported five MJs turned out to be one and a number of Dakota piles. I got some awesome parts however, and the day went well. The only parts that I didn't find were power window door panels (no hole for the window crank). There was a super nice blue interior in an XJ that I thought about pulling the panels from thinking that I might try some interior dyes on... but if I'm going to dye some interior parts, I already have a set ready to go! Relax... I won't be playing around with the black door panels. :thwak: ... not so sure if Ted Holland knows my new address yet anyway. -

YES! We're multiplying in MN! -
Unpacking is going as well as it can and I'm adjusting to the smaller garage space. Day one: Two: Three... and as the room still sits: As for the garage... well.. it's slightly smaller than I'm used to: So much stuff that I never really thought about how much there actually is. So much that on the unloading day, it all just took up as much room as it could... on the floor... on the crappy shelf... everywhere but an out-of-the-way spot: That’s not even including another vehicle. So, between the last couple days, and going back to St. Cloud, the last car came to the new house and the organizing began. The crappy old shelf came down and new, bigger, and better shelves went up! It’s tight with everything in there, but it all fits with walking room!: Next came some sort of work area. There was a small bench in the corner that I worked off of. More shelves! I figured that I’ve got mega high walls so I’d better take advantage of that and just keep going up: … and up some more!: Sad to report this, but there was an incident that happened… and it kept me up all night because I was the one who did it. I’m not happy to say that, but I think it’s best to take responsibility for the act. See, while loading the trailer, there was a jack… the jack slipped out from my hand and it landed sooner than I had wanted… because… because that too soon spot in the trailer was filled… it was filled with a black interior. THERE I SAID IT! I DROPPED A FLOOR JACK ON A PREVIOUSLY MINT BLACK DASH BOARD! I apologize to myself, but more importantly I apologize to the Comanche community. For the faint of heart and for those with a weak stomach, this is a warning to look away now: Fortunately, the crack is where the windshield meets the dash… but still… it happened. Otherwise, things are going well.

I love how you were giving the class a run down on cell phones, and immediately following, you are in the back room talking/texting with me about my latest MJ score. Rob Word! You wouldn't believe the many examples of "do as I say, not as I do" around that school! Come to think of it, there was another time too... don't remember what we were talking about, but I distinctly remember stepping into an empty welding booth for way more than a minute or two. Thinking back to my student days, so many things make sense now! :D

Thanks for the responses guys! Anyone have a wiring diagram?
-
I recently pulled a bunch of parts from an '87 Chief and a grouping of such parts were the power window wiring harnesses. I'm in the process of adding power windows and locks into my '88 Eliminator now and I think I may have run into a snag. From what I thought, I should be able to find the wiring connection near the doors under the dash and just plug right in and be done with it. Now I'm not so sure. Searching through the archives, I found a posting from Don saying: Is this just an HO deal or is there no crossbody harness in a Renix either? Is there more wiring that I should've pulled or am I just not looking hard enough?

Thanks dude. Getting right back on the horse tomorrow. I've been very lucky for the great weather over the past couple days what without a window... a bit chilly in the mornings, but workable. I looked into the aftermarket window risers and I'm thinking that I'm going to go with factory for now just based off of price alone. With that, I'm starting all over again at building my reputation at the local salvage yards... so many yards around MN don't let anyone walk through and pick their own parts anymore, but apparently if you talk to the right people, drop some names, and promise to behave then they'll give you a shot. This particular salvage yard has five MJs! I'll be sure to take note of anything exciting. -

For reals. Just when I'm trying to enjoy this truck after its long slumber, this happens along with the rash of injector leaks. I thought that I had the leaks fixed only to get Rick-Rolled into this episode. -
Minneapolis, MN MJ'ers?!? Welding help needed!

Good deal, homie! Keep in mind to practice proper metal preparation otherwise you'll be right back where you started in no time. only a few of us that are active. Word... the proud, the few. Like I wrote over in your other thread, Naterenfo1 is a cool kid down in your area. He's up in Alexandria going to school, but I would imagine he goes home from time to time. Might be able to give a hand. Another down there would be 1sickMJ... but I'm not so sure he's comes around these parts anymore. Thanks bro-chacho! Indeed, just this past weekend, I moved over to the other side of the state. I'd love to help but we're a bit farther apart now. What I can do is give you some links: Lincoln Electric’s website has “Education Center” section that’s full of awesome information: http://www.lincolnelectric.com/en-us/ed ... rials.aspx Stacy David does a pretty good job too as far as different types of body repair joints: Geez… Stacy David is so cool!!! Any pictures of what you're dealing with? -

Came home from work. Rolled window down. Window riser is shot. I knew that the window riser was shot. Window would not roll up. Tried to roll window up with a little help from a needle nosed pliers. Pliers slipped off of edge of window. Window explodes into a bazillion pieces. Didn't take any pictures. :fs1: :wall: :fs1: :wall: :fs1: :wall: :fs1: :wall: :fs1: :wall: :fs1: :wall: :fs1: :wall: :fs1: Time for new window riser. Time for new window. Might as well swap in power options. Very frustrated right now. -
Aren't those the JK style wheels? If so... wheel adapters? Axle swaps? :hmm:

Yeah... I'll take a look at that. Another member to look out for is Naterenfo1. He's from your area when he's back home. Look him up! I've shown him a couple spots where to find good parts at... not all though (everyone needs their own honey-hole, right?). -
Got that right! Just the same as when I was looking for our first house, she was interested in the structure and I was looking at the land. Last time, I had a perfect spot to build... this time we went to a full acre of land so I can go ATLEAST twice the size! :D

Oh, man... I was totally going to be all over that if I hadn't been moving! Good to see that the truck made it over here... you too! Where are you located at? -
Moving went as well as it could given many variables. We had an issue right from the get-go with the moving truck and a couple other hiccups: Two weeks before, we had a truck all lined up and reserved. Two days before we move, I get a call asking if we are still interested in renting... I said yes. "Well, I'm sorry to tell you this, but we don't have a truck available for the date you requested". WHAT?! I distinctly remember asking this guy what the purpose of a reservation was in about as many different and vulgar ways I could think of. Over the next ten minutes of listening to tell him how... we'll say disappointed... I was, he finally told me that the best thing he could do was to call around the state and find another truck. "And who would be paying my mileage to go and get this new truck?" I asked. "Well... that would be our responsibility"... and so it went for the next ten minutes or so. We ended up finding a U-Haul from the town we moved to and just rented it as a round trip instead of the convenient one-way that we originally had. Problem was, we "reserved" a 26' truck and all that we could get was a 17' through U-Haul... big problem! So, using our best Tetris skills, we packed that truck all the way up to the ceiling and ended up renting another 6x12' trailer locally that needed to be returned next day. This was day number one. Day number two started off with closing on both houses and making a caravan up to Alexandria. Not a whole lot to report, just the fact that things were hectic and needed to get unloaded quickly to get the truck and trailer back on time. On the third day, we started off with driving back to St. Cloud where my truck and two VWs were parked at my parent's place. I had another full load in my truck, and with a Beetle in tow we made it back to our new home. Issues for that day? Wind... lots of it! All the best I could do to keep everything on the road was 55mph. Any little bump and the little car in tow would pull the MJ back and forth like some kind of sickening carnival ride! We made it back again and continued the unpacking. I still need to get back to St. Cloud for the other VW, but that'll wait until I fix an injector leak... yes... injector leak. I had one before the trip that I thought was fixed only to realize that it was much worse than it was, "fixed" that to find that the two middle injectors are still leaking and now the fuel supply on the rail is leaking now too. I couldn't stand working on my truck again, so I ended up working out in my new garage with hopes of making myself a new home... er... work area. Granted, going from a 24x32' shop down to a small two stall garage is extremely tough for me. On one side is my Beetle and boxes and boxes of parts. On the other is where the truck parks, the dune buggy will, and where my janky work spot is going to be. This place needs outlets and power too... everywhere! There are extension cords running up and down the walls like some kind of crazy orange jungle vines! That'll get done before winter... probably. Anyhow, I see that I have a ton of catching up to do around here as I haven't had interweb capabilities since Thursday with high hopes that I'll have service when I get home from work today. It's been a crazy ride all weekend and now that it's time to get back to work, all I want to do is curl up somewhere and take a nap!
-
Well... the time has come to say goodbye to our first home. Got the moving truck sitting in the driveway and the action starts early tomorrow morning. :( Anyhow, my interweb service gets shut off sometime between now and tomorrow morning. I'll let everyone know how everything goes after the fact. Anyone with my phone number, please let me know if I miss anything cool around here. Thanks, dudes. Man... what a huge drag... definitely the time to sound the "sad trombone".
