  1. Standing on the snow blower actually! :laughin: Couple more pictures from the day... I'm trying to figure out ways of being more efficient with my storage since I've got way less space than the old shop. Made up a shelf for under my steel table, clever storage for grinding wheels and accessories, and a hanger for extension cords. Still have a little bit to go on the other half. ... note the snow blower in the front corner by the garage door.
  2. Starting to feel like a home again.
  3. Sorry, dude... not really my cup of tea. I just like bright colors because they're easy to see!
  4. ... but make sure you align four mirrors just right with a fifth mirror angled towards a half moon to show the hologram inscription. :peek:
  5. I like how I just read across the title of the topic and instantly thought of the phrase being used by someone who is ridiculously excited about it! "What?! A club?!... Just for Comanches?! OH, WOW!! Who'd a thunk it?!?!" Like some kind of super elite group that someone just found out about and wouldn't ever have thought existed for any good reason. Or like a quiet brethren using cool handshakes that mean different things and secret ways of passing messages back and forth without anyone else knowing about it but at the same time in plane sight as if keeping our information safe from prying eyes... Free Mason type of secret lifestyle kind of deal! Awesome... Now found out, you're likely to find yourself spiraling into a pool of knowledge only few can understand. Why is my truck more special than others on the road? Why do I find myself looking at other Jeeps on the road and somehow feel as though I'm looking down on them as if from some metaphorical pedestal? Yet, why does my truck break down at the worst times?... is it fate? Is it telling me something? Is someone telling me something? Is one of my new found brothers trying to reach out to me by some spyish means? What does this all mean? What does any of this mean? Who am I? How did I find myself with these questions? You may now answer this by saying, "I am a Comanche Club member" with a profound period at the end of that sentence... just be sure to put questions in the proper section on the site. Welcome to you. Make sure to get Pete your ring size for your decoder ring.
  6. Yeah... I would! From the few times that I've said that here, I have to say that it made me smile a little bit knowing that someone pays that close attention. Hat's off to you, sir! Back on topic... er... off topic?... I look at the idea that if I were to do a full electrical swap, why wouldn't I want to go as new as I can within reason? Even the difference between my '91 and '88 as far as the condition of the wiring is astounding! Only a few years difference there, but going from the '96 to a '01 I think I'd see the same thing. How much difference is there between the '96 and '97+ electronics as far as engine performance or just easy of working on? I understand that it would be easier to just go with a late '96, but if there would be any benefits of going newer for any reason I think I'd be for it. As far as the '80s-tastic feel, I like that I drive a product of the '80s! I like the feel of it. I like how it makes me feel when I'm driving it. I like knowing that I'm enjoying something that was the leader of what it was and at the top of its game back in the day. If I was in the situation of updating, I would definitely want to do so without disturbing that feeling, But I digress...
  7. I was thinking more along the lines of what it would be to do a full mechanical '97+ swap while still retaining the feel and lines of the dash/interior. Just another "what if" type of deal going through my head at the time. Wasn't sure if there were any similarities between the OBDII '96 gauge clusters and the '97+. I was thinking the same thing about the HVAC and what not. Didn't know that about the cruise control though. I think I'd be willing to loose that in order to retain the early column/wheel. Just for fun, anyone know if an early steering wheel would go onto a '97+ column without much fuss? Oh, and :hijack: .
  8. Just for conversation sake, couldn't one still swap over the dash, splice in the '97+ heater controls, and use aftermarket gauges? It was briefly talked over HERE, but I don't know the outcome. For that matter, couldn't one also do a '97 swap and make an early dash work? Obviously using custom gauges... unless a late '96 cluster would work?

Good haul, Jim! Must be having some withdrawals from the 10 slot you sent with to MN? I understand... even the littlest of things missing from my stash and I notice it too. :D

    Amendment 64

Seems as though there should be some sort of pun intended here what with the time it was posted at. :D
  13. Just got done staining the new extension jams for the windows and doors. Ugh... I despise staining.
  14. Hu... beat me to it. I was going down there this weekend and was going to take a picture of a road sign. Oh well... I'll be ready for 494 and 694!
  15. ... Then there would be the need for a steady source of heat. See, I've got this bad problem of one thing leading to another. Yes, I'd love to insulate right now! But if it were insulated, I'd want to look into a permanent heater for the stall. Giving a mouse a cookie type of deal, if you will. I did it last winter with very little space and an uninsulated garage stall. The way I see it, I'm moving up from last year! If not over the winter, it'll be for next year. In know that it's bad to be putting more stuff up on the walls, but I couldn't resist just a little garage art!
  16. I really wanted to avoid florescents due to the cold, but for the price I'm hoping they'll work out. I did look around at a few fixtures and I got good local reviews about the ones I got. Fingers crossed I don't have a bunch of stinkin' liars who shop at the same Menards as me.
  17. That's the sentence that's gotten me into trouble over the whole house project.
  18. This. All of it. I got a gallon to go over my Eliminator when I painted that and ended up with about a half quart left over. It'd go a little over them you can have some for touch ups in the future. Looks really good, Rob!
  19. In the new 24'x36' garage... no. I wish, but no. This was put up more for just storage. One vehicle sitting outside? Fine. Three vehicles sitting outside like last winter? Absolutely not! The plan is to insulate the original stall which is why I put a door between the old and the new. It probably won't happen this season but if I can pick at over the winter I will. Fortunately, with the door shut the smaller stall heats up really fast with the torpedo heater! Thanks dude! The shop portion of the garage got a little attention today in the form of organization, cleaning, and moving everything out that didn't need to be there. Shovels, rakes, and the like were all properly moved over to the storage side. Wiring in the new section was finished up as well. I put a halogen spot light over the center garage door which should be nice for those snow removal evenings... but if I don't get any this year, I'd be fine with that too! For the occasion however, I'm ready to go. In the old stall, I couldn't really decide what I wanted to to for lighting so I just went with some cheap florescent fixtures. Not totally happy with them, but I think if I were to do it again I'd go with bigger fixtures that get hard wired in instead of getting plugged in. See, last winter I played around with cheapo halogens that, for whatever reason, didn't like keeping bulbs in them. I wired in a couple outlets to plug them into. They worked out for the old lights but for the new they were just in odd places. I'm sure that'll change whenever the ceiling gets insulated. More stuff that got done was the last door that needed to get changed. At this point I asked the wife if she'd be interested in adding to the garage in the other direction and move the doorway back into the house further. She wasn't in favor of the idea. Instead I put the new door in and abandoned my grand idea of slowly turning the entire house into garage. Anyhow... I've got a thing for colorful doors. Both doors facing into the shop stall got the blue treatment. House to garage: Garage to garage: All in all, it was a productive day. Everything was almost looking clean and orderly for a while however this is how everything was left for the evening: Maybe it'll be livable tomorrow.
  20. A real update!... kinda. The '89 got a new set of teeth today. Yay! My first 10 slot. Thanks again, Jim!
  21. Out taking pictures of the house today and this little guy got in the way of the camera... didn't want anyone to think it wasn't around anymore.
  22. Here you go, Pete. Let's compare: Ran out of time for this year, but come spring time the plan is to build a porch/deck on the front of the house: ...steps are temporary. Put the shelves from the old garage back up. Might add more: I'll get some more tomorrow when it's all wrapped up for winter. The old stall is still a mess but at least there isn't near the stuff just sitting around. Progress!
  23. I was thinking the same about you.
