Best way to Lower a Comanche
lower jeep replied to skaterguy58's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
the winch maker use to make a lowering kit for the comanches years ago, i found one at a little truck shop in canada like 4 or 5 years ago gave me a drop 2" drop all the way around and handled great look up my project "my lowered jeep", i used a 4" steel block and xj shacklesto give me a nice level look with the bump stops removed in the rear pm me if your interested for the front springs -
so i started my truck up yesterday to start working on it again started just fine backed it up, turned it off to switch gears (need to bleed to clutch) then put it in 1st to move it into the garage and nothing on power to anything no power to my aftermarket fuse panel no lights no power to my air compressor for the air ride , i checked the battery just fine, replaced with a differnt battery, and nothin made sure all the wires were hooked up right no fuses were blown the battery wires looked fine, then checked to see if i had a good ground with a test light (from the + battery post to the body) and had power but couldnt find a dvom to see how much power i actually had but both batterys were just takin off the trickle chargers any body know what is wrong or had the same problems???????? thanks

ok you guys blocked off the return line with what? i asked my parts guy and he said that they offered nothing to block off a brake line so my question is what did you guys do to block off the return line? thanks -
if it was inside the truck while you were welding or within a few feet of the welder it is more than likely junk now sorry to tell you that but its because of the tig emits high freency waves that will destroy just about any thing that uses some kind of magnetics in it hope this makes sense

i have found that a 86-96 dodge dakota rollpans are about 1 inch on each side and you have to cut an like 3/8" out on the top mount to get it to fit against the out side of the bed and you can find them for like maybe $70 for a fiberglass one and i think that JC Whitney has a roll top bed cover that is made for the comanches its a hard cover that is made out of alum. and is covered with vinal that sits inside the bed rails but they want 600 -700 dollars for it here are a few options for you that i have found in searching for parts for my truck

here's some pics of my truck now aired up then aired down with bed not bolted down need to cut out the wheel wells on the bed

no offense taken but I'm ICAR certified welder but is the D35 rear end tubes cast or just really thick steel? -
to answer a few question ive seen the front is lowered by a old set of Warn winch springs. i found them in Canada over 3-4 years ago brand new i don't know where you can find them at any more ive done research on these but couldnt find any thing about them. My jeep right now is half way torn apart waiting to get put back together after a new paint job it is know a bright green with a soon to been flat black hood and Dodge Duster style stripes on the sides the rear is getting air ride put onto it slowly so far i have the 8 inch c notch welded in and will be welding the 4 link in soon so the truck will lay the frame on the ground will have pics as soon as the 4 link gets put in thanks for the intrest
