  1. Nice first post. And.. having a cute GF that can weld.... damn. Your winning for sure.
  2. I would say either champion #412 (oem plug) Or NGK 7252. I love ngk plugs and put them in everything. But i know many swear by champions for jeeps. Even before i had mine ive heard that for years.
  3. Thanks guys for the replies/info. Been driving it every day all over and its good. cold as a meat locker. Expansion valve hums a bit when compressor kicks in but that just seems to be an old age thing...lol. Works perfect otherwise.
  4. Damn dude... you don't mess around. That is a FULL teardown. :) Hopefully we can wheel at moab late this year or early next year. I'm shootin for mine to be worthy also.
  5. www.rockauto.com best site ever. Ive been buying from them for 5 years and all my clients use them also. best prices anywhere and you can chose product quality that you know. Moog ones I'm lookin at on the site now. :)
  6. You didn't actually crawl under that thing on that stump/stand did ya???? That is an obituary looking for a place to start. Be carful!!! opsled there were 6 jack stands supporting it as well  not my first rodeo, ive had a foreign exchange student who was supposed to help my flush my p/s fluid, i layed under the axle, he threw it in gear and started the truck up while on front jacks   ........... :rotfl2:
  7. Happy now. I found this. http://www.stu-offroad.com/axle/d30seals/seal-1.htm and rockauto has the seals. So ill be tackling this soon, i even planned a write up too but..not needed. Stu is the man. lol
  8. ....... :fs1: mine is now doing this. Ive had it on the road for a week. Every time i stop.... it makes a little puddle about the size of a 50 cent piece.... :fs1: So... the seal is in the pumpkin next to the diff? its not out at the end by the joint?
  9. I know how you feel. I build carbs and tune carbureted engines and have my whole life. So the last 6 years or so ive been putting widebands on everything to help dial tunes in exactly. It makes life 100 times easier. No guess work and far less plug reads. :)
  10. but really wasnt
  11. Sounds like a stuck open injector. thats super fat. should pretty much never see 10s AFR. Pull your plugs and have a look, they may be fouled beyond saving. You can drive along and shut the key off while driving. Coast to the side and pull the plugs. See which one looks out of place. If they are all fat.. then your after another issue thats causing ECU to go that fat at idle. Bad FPR, bad MAP sensor, leaky line to MAP, etc. Your makin me want to toss the wideband on my jeep now...lol
  12. Then your world sucks mate. Glad I'm not in it. lol. See...... your on the defensive groups team. either love it or hate it, always gonna be 2 groups with stuff like this.
  13. Any updates on this beast? will it be at speed week in august this year? Ill prob be there and would love to see it in person. :)
  14. Man you guys are FAR nicer as a group than many of the other forums I'm on. This is known as an abortion in my world. There is even a corral at VW events for these kinds of vehicles. "the abortion corral" People bring these types of 70s and 80s space shuttle trucksarossa styled heaps and park them in the corral for everyone to laugh at. Some are downright defensive of such machines, but most of us just can't stop laughing. This is reminiscent of the mighty snorkelstang. lol.
  15. "works ok" :rotfl2:
  16. WEAK! The baby needs to know what its like to ride in the comanche before its even born. Better bust it out and tend to its needs. 1 year parked is BAD news.
  17. another vegas manche! Dude if you need help let me know. i can help you get your AC goin pronto. I build cars for a living. Ill be lifting mine soon and have a list of stuff for it. So we could go wheelin and have a manche pic session. hehehe. Pm me anytime.
  18. so far since putting my manche together i have put about 1000 miles on her. I'm getting 19-21 mpg. I did an LA trip last weekend and so i did the mileage/consumption test. (only real way) Go by point to point mileage vs how many gallons used. So i filled it to the cap and drove. 270 miles and used just under 13 gallons. Bed loaded full of stuff (700 lbs or so) and no cruise control (havent fixed that yet) 5th gear most of the way and 4th on the hills (baker grade) AC on the entire way. Avg'd 75 mph. quick hijack... what gears do i have. I have an 8.25 (ID'd by the great axle thread on here) and at 70 mph i run 2k rpm. 215/75 15" tire. 75 is like 2100 rpm. Thanks for any info gang. Dave :wavey:
  19. Mine is a 91 pioneer/4.0 HO. :) Its HOT in vegas so I'm just making sure its at 100% operation level. I build and restore cars for a living and am extremely detailed. Right now its blowing 38-40 out of the vents and i want it as cold as i can get it. :) My neighbor is an AC guy and so when he was over and i was working on it... he mentioned.. "I never seen a system that cycles like that". Should be on 100% and i was like.... well its my first jeep so ill ask the forum guys. lol
  20. Ok comanche friends. My first thread is a tech question. :wrench: Is the AC compressor supposed to cycle on an off with the setting on max AC? As in, is that the factory setups programming? Or should it just stay on constant like all newer cars do? The system is mostly all new parts, all sealed up tight, and vacuumed it down for an hour, and then no leaks after 1 hour of sitting. filled with R12 and have 30 on the low side and 250ish on high side at idle. Whole thing seems to work as it should, just that when its idling and your standing there watching the gauges.... it runs maybe 30 seconds.. then comp kicks off.... then 30 seconds.. comp kicks on. Perfectly timed cycles over and over. Seems like thats what they meant it to do. BUT if the comanche AC gurus say, NO it should be on 100% of the time... then i need to figure out what the deal is. Thanks for any info/help. Dave
