Thanks for the answer...

Did you have any clearance issues or did it bolt right up?
-
Yep, I replaced the cat...the old one. The new one, I can shine a light thru it...and see light. The old one...no light. You were right on. ...AND I finally did the vacuum test...which is what finally led to the above. Thanks guys,,,running normal temps now. I'm guessing you prolly noticed a decent power increase from that clogged cat? Maybe better gas Millage too?

Ok sorry i just wanted to make sure those were 100% bolt ons. Looks like the highest "affordable" output one is the 100amp for around $70.00 I would really like to be in the 150 amp range but can't afford the $350.00 price tag.
-
Yes but it will still be the stock output correct? I'm looking for something more
-
Ok. Ill upgrade the wireing but I will still need more amps. So what alternator is a renix bolt on upgrade?

The electric fan I bought was brand new.

8.8 Axle Swap Into A 90 Comanche
Zebvance replied to Biotex's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
I'm doing the exact Same swap right now. I intrested to see how you do your brake lines, where you mount the shock mounts and how much clearance the perches have from the brake caliper. That is if you are soa like I am. -
Just installed a stock 2001 cherokee e fan in addition to my mech fan. When I turn it on I get a huge voltage drop. Under 9 volts. The mj almost completely dies from the load on the initial start up. I also am in the process of adding a 40 and 20 inch ligh bar, 2 led spots and two fog lights on the rear bumper. So I need to get a bigger alt ASAP. What are my upgrade options. If I remember right my stock alt only has about 60ish amps. I would like to be above 100 if possible. Also will I need to upgrade wireing? It's going on a 88 renix 4.0

And this old girl that makes me smile when I walk past her every morning in my driveway!

lol yea. I'm slowly upgrading everything. ordering my long arms tonight! so exited!

She is finally sitting on her own feet again. Prolly only for a couple of days and then its on to the rear. Ripping out the turdy five and putting in the 8.8

Do you mind me asking about the floor pans. where you took it and how much its costing you.

Calipers are from advance auto. Rotors are from ebay. Can't remember brand. They are zinc plated and cross drilled

How many threads do you have in those spacers? Should be enough. I used lock tight too. That picture was befor the lugs were tight. Here is current. Image Not Found Image Not Found

I drilled them with a 7/8s bit and had tapered inserts. Supposedly because of the poly bushings I shouldn't have a problem with bump steer. Could you give me an example of the T set up?

Thanks guys. I think the plan for tonight is to cut it, flare it and put a new end on it. -

Ok that's for the info. I looked around and can't find a new one. The only one I found was from the dealership and the would have to get it from Ohio. The brake line is 88 bucks and 13 for shipping. So what do I do now? Know of any other places I can buy one? -
I call it the...... Scissor axle. I have worked on one from a bronco. A Dana 44. They are pretty strong and perfect for 4wd Pre runner type stuff. Not a terrible axle in general. But it would be a huge task to try to put one under a mj. Even if its the Dana 35 ttb which is what I'm guessing would be under the exploder it would prob be stronger than the Dana 30. If you have the time, tools and know how to do it, it can be done and I personally think it would be awesome. That's just me. If you don't want to invest the time And money just go with the Dana 30. Also I have heard here and there of people finding a certain year waggy Dana 44 and putting it under Cherokees. I guess it's one of the easiest swaps. Haven't done much research on it though.
