Need Help Finding A Oem Ac Bypass Pulley.
Zebvance replied to Zebvance's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That does not seem to be the right pully. It is 90 mm, the one is have measures 101mm. -
I have a 99 Durango box in mine. Direct bolt up but much larger, you gain strength with it but lose a bit of turning radius...

I'm replacing all the pulleys on my mj and I'm having trouble finding the ac bypass bracket pulley. The truck did not come with ac from the factory and had this dummy bracket and pulley instead. I have went to orilies and they have no record of the part. If anybody knows a auto part store that I can get it, it would be helpful.

Little update, Had the fan hub bearing go out on me. Found someone that had a NOS for 50 bucks. Saved me about $430 by finding it. Should be in tomorrow. Hope to put it on this weekend and start welding up the truss, installing ball joints, gears, and new chromo axles then installing the long arm lift next week. I am tired of looking at all these new parts sitting on my shelf.... In about two weeks ill be ordering new rims and rubbers with my tax return. 35x12.50x13 baja claws and summit nomad wheels -
No I narrowed it down to the fan hub bearing by spraying wd 40 on the back of the pully where the shaft is and it would go away.

I'm not sure of the support brackets you are talking about. do you have pictures?
-
I see now that it was a RC long arm kit. I'm guessing it was for a XJ? and you modified the cross member to work? If you have pictures I would love to see what you did. The long arm kit I have is serious offroads.

Looks great! may have missed it but what log arms are you running? Also you are currently sitting at 8 inches of lift? If so how are the angles of the front drive shaft and where you still able to use the stock one? I'm about to put a 8 inch long arm lift on mine in the next week or so and I have a LP30. Just wondering if I'm going to need to get another drive shaft or not. Thanks!

Hope to see you here soon! Hopefully we can meet up soon. As for the AC comments. My mj didn't come with ac from the factory, and after driving it down the street on a joy ride in the Texas heat makes u smell like you haven't showered in days.....

so I believe I fixed all of my power steering issues but now my fan pulley is making some really horrid squalling noises. Its been making some noise here and there but now its toast. Sucks cause I busted my but to get the truck ready to go to the deer lease tomorrow and now I won't be taking it. Anyway, after doing some research, the bearing for the pulley is pressed into the bracket that its on. The same bracket that the compressor should sit on. Well for me its the dead pulley because my mj did not come with ac from the factory. Furthermore, looks like the only place to get the bracket is the dealership and from what I have found it runs any where from $300-$500 bucks.... So this is where I'm asking opinions from yall. What should I do? I have read through a few threads where people try to replace the breaking but 99% don't turn out well. If anybody currently works at a dealership can you look up the part to confirm the price for me, as I won't be able to at the deer lease. Also does anybody have a part number for it?

got all the new stuff on and seems to be doing fine. but now the fan pulley is squeaking its butt off

Yea I'm aware. The Durango box was already in it. I replaced everything and upgraded to the Durango box a few months ago. That's what all went bad, the remaned Durango box.
-
Stronger. Yes I lost the turning rAtio but it's not really noticed. The box is a lot bigger and worth the upgrade.

If you are referring to the brand, the one that I just pulled out was a lares. I am replacing it with a cardone.
-
It was full of metal. Checked it with a magnet. Pulled the pump and gear box today. New ones come in 8am....
-
I will do that first thing in the morning. This whole ordeal has just stressed me out enough for the day. I am suppose to go to the deer lease Friday 3 hours away with the truck..... Oh we'll nothing else I can do for the night so sounds like a good time to call it quits and make a bourbon and relax for the rest of the night.... My though on the pump is if the gear box is throwing metal shavings through the system it will all have to be replaced. I know most power steering pumps have inline filters in them I believe, my guess is that the shavings are clogging up the filter or pump keeping fluid from circulating at low rpms. But yes I am not getting any whining and what not...
-
We'll checked the fluid and look at this. Put new clear fluid in it with the new pump and it looks like this. Also looks like it has a sparkle...... Only thing I can think of is somthing in the gearbox is throwing metal shavings through the pumps and burning them up.....

I noticed the other day on a 30 min trip down the hwy that my steering got stiff when I went to exit after driving about 30 miles. Came to a stop and seemed fine. Then wheeled a little on a buddy's land and it was fine also. On the way back the same thing happened after 30 mins of driving when I went to get on my exit. I replace the power steering pump, hoses, pull, and gear box about 500 miles ago. I replaced the gear box with a 1999 Durango box though. We'll i fig the power steering pump was going to went ahead and got another under warranty and put it on today. We'll went up and down the hwy a few times and same thing. But now it's almost completely no steering. Any ideas. Another burned up pump?
